"I LIKE TO WATCH THE GIRLS"
H
ow's your modeling career going?
Modeling career? It ain't going nowhere.
What happened to the big photo shoot you were
picked for?
It was postponed. I don't know.
Looking like a skateboarder is a good investment these days.
I guess; it's the marketable thing.
for the day?
Basically. The synagogue rail is like the original hubba in SF.
Everybody wants to skate it. There's still lots to be done on it, and
it's dope for photos.
It's getting a little played as far as photos and footage...
It's an amazing spot; everybody comes down for the wintertime,
hits it up, and then you see it all over the magazines in spring. It's a
So, how did you get hooked up with this big modeling dope spot, it's an easy place to take everyone, and they're always
contract?
happy to skate there. I'll keep all the other spots for myself.
Big modeling contract? I didn't get hooked up with shit, man! I'm Anything else you want to say?
a dirty skateboarder.
You're not making the big dollars yet?
Not really.
How do you manage to pay rent and bills?
Hustle baby, hustle. And I do a little promoting for clubs.
Is that how you got us into all those clubs in South Beach?
We all looked like scumbags.
You'd have to ask my girlfriend Aura about that one.
Talk about the nightlife in Miami.
Nightlife... you get stuck in it. The nights keep going into days,
days turn back into nights... next thing you know, you're broke.
What's the most money you've spent in one night?
All I know is that I've gotten some photo incentive checks and
have been psyched that I've got so much money-then I go out and
the next day I have no more money. It gets out of control at times.
Blazing in the VIP Section...
I've found myself up there sometimes, just ask Forrest Kirby. He's
found himself up there with me.
Where's the strangest place you've ever woken up?
In my own bed.
Can you explain the phenomenon of South Beach booty
music?
I don't know if I can explain booty music, but I know I like to
watch the girls.
What about the rest of the Miami music scene?
Oh, you want 96.1 DJ Kalas; more fire, more fire! It's just wild. No
one's controlling the airwaves down here; it's just ghetto. Anybody
who has been to Miami understands what I mean by ghetto. The
DJ's are insane, rapping over the songs; everything goes in Miami...
Just off the chain, right? Do you think you'll ever leave?
Hope to. I have goals I want to accomplish as far as skateboard-
ing goes and when those are done, there will be nothing keeping me
here. I just need to move on and grow.
Do you ever get tired of being the official Miami tour guide?
No, it's fun because of all the new energy, and everyone is psy-
ched on skating different things. You're surrounded by people better
than you, so it pushes you.
Just take 'em to the synagogue rail and leave them there
Thanks to everyone who has helped me out, and everyone who's
come down.
What can we see from Mindbender in the 2001?
You just gotta wait and see what drops.
