degree heat made the trip more than worth
it. Some highlights of this contest would
include Ron Whaley's usual kickflip grab
attack, Senn cruised, Wade did switch pivots
on the vert wall, Remy was out for blood on
the very dangerous vert ramp, Digo was his
usual heelflip grabbing self, Hubbard did a
shove-it to pivot that had the old commies
crying for mother. After getting hassled
and pickpocketed, some of the others
decided their Euro adventure was over, but
our pack had one more stop to make and it
was over twenty-five hours away at a little.
town on the French Riviera called Marseille.
Sometimes you gotta go through hell to get
a little slice of heaven.
The train ride was brutal and after disem-
barking at two in the morning with the park
over ten miles away we went out into the
night. Pushing down the street, we heard
what sounded like angry hornets coming up
from behind and it turned out to be some
junked out moped gang who wanted to tow
us to the park. It started out smooth enough
until they realized that we were not going to
beef for them, so they kept going faster and
faster. Speeds of over 45 mph were attained
and sewer grates got mighty big at that
speed, they took us far as the hill and got
off looking to fight, but we assured them
that they don't want to mess with Poison,
and with that they split off winding it out
into the night. One hour later we were there
and skating until the moon went down in the
Mediterranean. We made camp in the big
bowl wagon train style and were greeted by
Mister Sun who went out of his way to broil
us to death for the next three days

and skating in the hottest part of the day for
fear that we might die on the way home,
everyone went off in the only park in the
world where you can keep going for as
long as you have the energy. Beat, burnt and
blank we made the airport with dirty clothes
and empty pockets. I asked Hubbard for five
words to describe the trip and he said, "I'll
be back for more." Yeah he will.
