"When I hear the word 'culture,'
I reach for my gun."
MORE CRIME,
LESS PUNISHMENT
So, one 4:00 am, Felix and Barker,
properly gangsta-attired, decided to
awaken Thiebaud, Salman and Kelly.
Not wanting to knock, a large rock was
thrown through the window, awakening
everyone in the Goleta Motel 6. The
"understanding manager and the
"friendly" police officers banned
Thiebaud, Salman and Kelly for life.
Barker and Felix just laughed while
Julien, Wade and Pang were blissfully
unaware and unattached in the relative
safety of the House of Powell.

Hans Johst
Neuhaus is recouping from a tweaked ankle
after some undisclosed strangeness on a super-
bike. Hensley is avidly pursuing Emergency
Medical Training, critiquing vids by Ko and
Matthies at Session's private screening room
and pursuing ska in local clubs. The Ant is
mouth contact. Peter Redgrave is back from
toothless after suffering bouncing board-to-
Europa and shredding.
IN AND OUTS
Moblow has recently re-surfaced in Fish's
Think tank (or is it Think's fish tank?) Anyhow,
he brought along the monk and the punk (Bo
Ikeda and Mike Santarossa) as well as a pair
of Jim Gray's prized eyeglasses. A new wheel
company called Race is in the works. Remy
Stratton now heads up team duties at Acme.
Meanwhile, Bertino is now out of Think and
reportedly in at Blind.
Cardiel: Australia.
Howard: Canada.
Jeron Wilson: Blind.
Gershon Mosely: Me.
WORD HAS IT
Mike Carroll is still pissed at Rocco for
using a picture of his girlfriend in
World's December ad without per-
mission. San Jose Skatepark is
changing owners. Red from SJ is
reportedly taking charge and
hopes to do it right. Henry
Sanchez went back to school.
No word on if it was for grades
or girls. Eric Ricks may soon
be down with Think. Some
Powell decks come with 6-
hole truck patterns. Rob.
Dyrdek is reportedly in touch
with World, which reportedly
has the highest salary per
skater. Some pros have tested
the water elsewhere only to
realize there are no
better offers.

AND SOME QUESTIONS
Where are the models from Mako Urabe
and Mike Cao? Does Chris Senn spend a
lot of time in Oregon?
Does Tom Guerrero wear Birkenstocks?
Did Justin Girard try to get FTC Kent arrest-
ed in Hong Kong for grey marketing? Did Jackie
Chan break his leg skating? Does Eddie
Reategul ride for Gone Boardin?
Are Mike Crum and Chris Gentry moving
west and in with Omar in Costa Mesa?
Is the H-Street team tired of Tony Magnus-
son's side-stepping business ways?
Are Dune, Jason Lee and Blue now under
the Deluxe tent?
Did a certain irate manufacturer actually
steal Todd Swank's dog Beano in an act of
retaliation? Will Beano, who only answers to
names such as Poo-Poo, Lumbo and LG ever
be returned? Is this the latest atrocity in a cease
and desist war or did the dog just walk off? Does
Josh Beagle somehow hold the clues?

number? Does this skater chat line often con-
nect pros and ams with jobs? Isn't the duo sup-
posed to be doing art?
FUGGIN' MUCK
Templeton and Vallely left Dorfman to hook
up with Dean from Zero Moo. Andy Howell is
recovering after surgery to remove a year-old
piece of skate which impacted itself during a lip
launch in Portugal. After having a one centime-
ter long splinter removed, Howell returned to the
studio with the Mass Prophets laying down more
ironic tracks.
Block is hooked up with Kid Frost
on a couple of edge-cutting projects.
For example, Block's photos docu-
ment the large meeting between
local groups including Venice,
Santa, SM 18, and CC 13. Reports
also place Frost and Block in
Europe.

What could be more embarrassing
than James Kelch's recent adven-
tures? Big Dirty James was quietly
minding his business when a girl in
shorts says, "Come here," in a kind,
warm inviting voice. Never one to dis
a lady, James rolls over and the bitch
pulls out a badge and writes him up
for an open container violation. It is
perhaps noteworthy that Kelch is of
legal age and was originally stand-
ing on private property before being
lured into the violation zone. Also
involved in the Venice crime zone
was the dynamic duo of Steve Roc-
co and Rick Howard, who some-
how buzzed the beach on jet skis,
landed and escaped while being pursued by

The Tracker sub-trade show was an event
with nearly all in attendance. Alf, Barker
Barrett, Thomas Morgan, Rob
Dyrdek, Jeremy Wray, Mario Rubal-
caba and Tim Brauch all listened
intently to Tracker Larry's tired
tirade.

POPPED ART
Kevin Ancell
Robert Williams opened at the Bess Cutler Gallery in NYC to
an enthusiastic crowd who braved the NYPD security access line.
Inside the packed gallery, people marveled at wonders ranging
from Mata Hare to William's drawings for the Pre-Phat Klown Ken
Park Model. The lush after-opening party at Webster Hall fea-
tured Iggy Pop, Deborah Harry, Chris Stein. Anthony Kiedis,
Leslie Sternbergh. Adam Alexander. Clark Render and a gag-
gle of teased, nipple-ringed transvestite security guards. Also on
hand were such luminaries as V. James Brucker, Glenn Fried-
man. Esco. Ms Murry, Kevin Ancell, Suzanne Williams, Dan
Barham and Ivan Carp On the next night, the Alleged Gallery
opened its minimal trix show which displayed a survey of skate
art and board graphics. Some of the artists involved included Spike
Jones. Kevin Thatcher. The Pizz, Arron Rose, The Gonz.
Jeremy Henderson, Joe Humeres and Dave Cranie. Essentially
the same out-of-control crowd was in effect. In front of the gallery,
a lusty curb was slapped until dawn the next day.
