I was a member of the Earth Surf
Skateboard Team, which dissolved four
years ago when our sponsor, Skateboard
Comer, folded. Now I'm the organizer of
the Earth Surf Team, a new team whose
purpose is to entertain, educate and
promote, with, about and for skatin'. We
recently performed for two days at the
Hoboken Celebration to crowds of more
than 200 people who literally screamed at
our freestyle, high-jump and ramp antics..
More shows are on the way.
I hope you still sell half-year subscrip-
tions cuz I only have five dollars. In fact,
the way things have been going, I hope
you're still in print! I think your mag really
expresses what's happening; I only found
out about it a couple of months ago and it
was like discovering a new energy

Your last "Gnarly Street Issue" was just
what I'd been looking for. I don't have any
bowls around my area and stick to total
freestyle. I depend on your mag to help
me develop new approaches. I just
started curb grinds and have some tricks
of my own, but I desperately need to get
some pipe action! It's a $50 fine to cruise
the streets so I've developed my own
sidewalk style. I have to stick to regular
parks to get radical at all, and that's in the
basketball area. Anyone with a halfpipe or
better gnarly action, drop me a line! Keep
the grinds rad! Freestyle forever!
SPEAKING OF BUNK

I'm living in Mobile right now and it's an
all right place to get RAD, sometimes. Me
and my friend, Chuck Franklin, have been
working on a halfpipe lately. It looks all
right so far. Even though Mobile has got a
couple of good ditches and some good
hills, our skatepark got torn down so they
could build a hospital. It's really bunk.
Speaking of bunk, I'm moving next
summer to some bunk town in Mississippi
called Ripley. All of the roads are gravel,
there is no decent skating surface in the
town and it's full of rednecks and old
people. I've gotta turn some people RAD
up there so we can build a halfpipe. I'm
gonna be taking vacations every weekend
and summer though.
