TENNESSEE...
1981, the best year of skateboarding in
middle Tennessee. It all happened when
the boys from Smyrna met up with the
boys from Hendersonville. We started
having our first sessions and this great
Mag printed a photo from one of those ses-
sions.
The next thing we hear is that the
Variflex Team will be stopping by Heritage
Landing in Nashville. Some of the locals
built a ramp and the team showed up
and skated. They were so hot that I
bought a tour shirt! A couple of weeks
later Shuan Peddie and Mike McGill
showed up at Heritage Landing (thanks to
Barry, SIO) to do a demo. After the demo
we talked to Shuan and Mike to come
skate the Hendersonville halfpipe. Well
they did and they "THRASHED" heavily.
We were skating so heavily the police told
us to quit because the neighbors were
complaining of noise. Since then there
have been many more hot sessions.
There are some new skaters and some
have dropped out of the scene but the
dedicated ones that have kept it going are
Ray Underhill, Lyle Donaho, Wendell
Elrod, Jay Cabler, Mike Carr, Scott
Barnett, and myself. We will continue to
skate for as long as possible and if
anyone wants to come check us out,
come on, because we're young, we're
strong, we're good looking, and we'll be
there!

DELAWARE...
My name is Chuck Treece. I'm from
Delaware and I used to be a local at
Cherry Hill. I have a picture of a ramp that
I just started to ride. Please put my picture
in your Mag, I beg of you. Leighton Lord
sent me.
The halfpipe is in Newark,
Delaware. Your Mag is the greatest!
P.S. More photos on the way.

I'm very serious about my future article
on jumps. But besides the highest and
raddest jumps on skateboards, I also ride
vert! I'm going to fly to Guatemala in
March to compete in the 3rd National Vert
Skateboard Championship of Guatemala.
The past contests have been on the Wide
World of Sports of Guatemala, and this
one will be too. This should be for sure
the best one so far. Of course I'll be good
and report it for you guys. I'll also send
photos.
P.S. I'm beginning the resurgence of
skating in Greenville.

TEXAS...
I'm writing you about your Mag. It's really
hot. I'm from Houston, Texas. I found out
about your Mag when I was in the "Texas
Spring Series of Skateboarding." Jeff
Newton, the man running the contest,
gave them out to the skaters. And as
soon as I could I ordered your Mag. As
they say around here, "action later,"
"Thrasher Now," Thrasher all the way!
And I'm also sending you some pictures
of some of the skaters of Houston, Texas.
If you could use them in your Mag that
would be nice. And if you hear some more
about John Gibson put it in the Mag.
because he is a good old friend and I
would like to know what he is up to. Just
wanted to send some pictures and let you
know your Mag is a big hit in Houston,
Texas! And if any of you skaters are in
Houston, come by and skate my ramp.
Just ask the skate shops about for Pete
Castro.
