New England was the best. Our caravan rolled out
over the water and into Rhode Island to Skater Island
where Sid rules the land. He seriously is the king. He
set us up at some mansion where there was a huge
party for the fourth of July. I didn't see one firework,
but I got to skate a sick park. Rich and Tim got busy
and it was off to the mansion.
Rhode Island turned out to be a nice place to rest
after a demo in Hyannis, Massachusetts. We kicked
back there for a few days and discussed money mat-
ters on the trip. Matt had to cut out back to California
in a couple of days and we decided that some others
should go with him. I met Fred Smith and we said
goodbye to Rhode Island.
Eastern Boarder had a good little set-up and a sick
mini-ramp that Karma destroyed. I don't know how
anyone was skating after sleeping in the parking lot
the night before. The dudes took us to this crazy
indoor pool at an abandoned army base that was
twelve feet deep. Bailey got a grind and we were off
to shack up at this kid Danny's house. One of the best
sessions of the trip went down on the dude's mini-
ramp before the other half of our crew departed. It
sucked to see them go, but people have to do what
they have to do.
So now it was Karma, Scott, Howard, Casey, Bill,
me, and a crazy amount of girth to carry on with the
mission. After some homemade pancakes we were
back on the damned highway to Springville.
After that demo it was off to Rochester, New York
where the owner of Krud Co skate shop, Aaron, set us
up nicely. We had a night on the town and good food.
The following day Scott jumped off walls, Casey flew
through the air, and Karma did kickflip nose manu-
als the usual. I was sick of skateboarding at this
point and so was everyone else. After a quick stop in
Pittsburgh, it was off to Karma's grandparents' house in
Ohio for some rest.
We had to go to Dodge skatepark in Columbus, Ohio for
a demo. The place was good and so was Karma, clearing
the huge island from small bowl to big bowl. We went on a
wild goose chase for food and then back to Karma's grand-
parents' house.
Changaworld came next. This place is amazing. People
were flying everywhere. Howard and Casey took the huge
launch ramp pyramid, Karma pulled the huge biker run,
airing out of each hit, and
Scott was ollieing into
ramps. The bikers suck.
Chaz from Dodge was
there. He skated my board
and tore the place apart.
The heat was almost
unbearable as we departed
for Kalamazoo, Michigan. I
drove for hours, smoking
cigarettes called highways.
The Kalamazoo park was
skated and we were happy
