down the big rail, bluntslides to fakie
across the bump-to-ledge, and kickflip
wallrides, it was as good as done. Brian is a
very likable world champion that everyone
can enjoy.
VERT
Colin McKay was getting completely
nuts at this event, throwing best trick-
style moves into his regular runs..
Frontside Cab kickflips over the chan-
nel, backside nollieflip reverts over the
channel, and backside tailslides to
shove over the channel are all the types
of tricks that he's good at. Tas Pappas
was also ripping with his golden hair fol-
lowing closely behind him as he
launched giant kickflip mutes and 540°
variations. Rune, Max Schaaf, and
Lincoln were blasting and Bob was get-
ting wild with the Cab combos (includ-
ing a Best Trick frontside Cab late
shove-its). Bucky came up with the win,
however, with difficult and, more
important, consistent runs that included
lots of frontside gay twist variations,
flip grabs, and even an unorthodox
alley-oop 540. Good job, Bucky.

THE RADLANDS' qq CONTEST
NORTHAMPTON ENGLAND
I had always enjoyed the video coverage of the
past Radlands events, especially when the con-
testants inexplicably fly out from the hall on the
side and onto the course. What was back there?
Where does that lead? It was almost like they
were bursting out of a dressing room or some-
thing. It turns out the tunnel leads to a modest
quarterpipe where skaters can get the full-court.
speed needed to fly over the larger props or up
onto the tall wallride options. Even smaller than
Tampa (heck, it's almost as small as the
Huntington park), the skater-owned Radlands
park in Northampton has one of the best street
courses for its tiny size in the world of modern
skateboarding. Solid obstacles allowed for a top-
notch street style event, and a few hundred spec-
tators packed the rafters to see the damage.
10. Eric Koston
Skateboarding's golden child was in top form at
the Euro events and pounced around the course
with nollie noseslides and switch tailslides on the
flat bar. He looked pissed when some unfortu-
nate falls slammed him into 10th.
9. Mike Manzoori
I think Mike made it to the finals as an alter-
nate, but once there he let loose with a gnarly

out a judo. The Euro media's #1 target,
Koston took it all in stride and cruised the course
with moves like this graceful nollie frontside
noseslide. Andrew Reynolds snatched tall
frontside crookspicks off the bleacher-reaching
bank-to-wall. Following Reynolds and Koston's
nasal examples, Matt Beach uses his nose and
nollies the hip.
