During the results announcements, the success of
the weekend was obvious. Everyone from first to
last place had a smile. Beers were handed out and
champagne corks popped. This would seem like the
grand finale to a great contest, but not in Tampa.
Ryan Clements got on the phone to a local
bar/
r/restaurant to get deals on food and drinks for
everyone; when most people would have crashed
from exhaustion, the SPOT crew was still going full
speed. Everyone at the bar celebrated the end of an
unstoppable event. The level of the Anniversary
Party would be hard to beat. Maybe next year the
guys will make it easier on themselves and let some-
one else make sure over one thousand people get
some free beer.
I packed my bags reluctantly on Monday morning
and prepared for the 12-hour drive north to the land
of cold and ice. Next year if you need a break from
the winter cold, the Skatepark of Tampa will
quite possibly be in a new location ready for
more. John Randolph
