Clockwise from left: The water kept swelling up, so we
lined the drain with kitty litter. "Whatever" is all you can
say when Pete the Ox gets near your pool. Karma's
wrists are broken, but that never stops a legend from
killing terrain. Backside air on the face wall.
the matter was that they
were gonna tear the building
down, and we were just tak-
ing care of it while we could.
So we actually did break in
there one day, and we
secured a door so we could
come and go as we pleased.
We cleaned it all out and
drained it, and with our own
entrance, the heat was on.
We skated it for six weeks
straight. Then the news
came on TV one night that
the next Saturday they were
gonna destroy it, and need-
less to say, those last ses-
sions were on hit.
Sometimes there were like
15 dudes in there, while the
world walked by unknowing-
ly outside. I mean, I've had
ramps and I've skated
indoor stuff before, but this
was an indoor pool that was
ours. It was unlike anything
we've ever had before. I'm
sad that it's gone now, but I
know that the sessions we
had in there were some of
the best. I hope these photos
make you think about some-
thing you see that's boarded
up or maybe that fence
down the street. Take a look
over it someday; there might
be something there for you
to skate. Maybe not, but you
never can tell. And the more
you sit in your room thinking
about what it is and what
you don't have, the more
people like us are gonna be
out looking through your
backyard trying to ride your
stuff. Think about it.
