=CAUTION=
Too steep a dive can cause your
head to hit the bottom. This can
result in a broken neck and paral-
ysis. Dive only on areas of pools
properly designed to accommo-
date diving. Know how to dive
properly and safely. If in doubt
don't dive!

T
that
his is a long story, so I hope you bear with me. I've
been skateboarding in San Francisco for almost 16
years. And of all the friends I know, nobody I know
skated more than maybe five pools in the City. They
were usually all little ones or hit-and-run jungle bowls,
stuff that really wasn't that great, until this summer.
It all started with a picture in the newspaper of a pool

doing down there. So we went in there and looked at the
pool. I mean, the roof was caving in, but there was nothing
going on and it was totally deserted. The pool was a square,

something. You guys can come down and skate it or try it
out one day." And we were like, "Yeah, OK." But Mic-E lost
the number, so we pretty much filed that for about two
months. But it had been bugging me, and I'd drive by and
see it, and say, "Fuck, I gotta get in there." So sure enough,
I had to call a buddy of mine named Gluehead, a specialist
who was obviously the man for the job to get into this build-
ing. It wasn't like breaking and entering, because the fact of
