DESTRUC
t's actually been more than ten years since
the sequence of "an unidentified flying ace"
appeared in the mag. We had no idea back
then how much havoc this anonymous little
rocker kid snapping off down at Justin
Herman Plaza would wreak over the coming
years. We figured it out soon enough though, and
Wade Speyer quickly became one of the mag's
most recognized and frequent flyers. Some pros
out there throw a kickflip Indy on the vert ramp
into their ledge-flip/gap-jump video part, or a
rail 50-50 into their vert part, and they think
they've covered the full spectrum. Wade ain't
like that. He is one of the few cases where it
really doesn't matter where, when or what-he
just rips. Through the years-whether it's
Dogtown, Powell or Think, Gullwing or
Venture, Danville or Concord, winner's circle
at the world-class pro contest or pushing to
the store for a drink, full-bore vert assault
without pads or flatground flips with the
homies out in the parking lot of the
skateshop, photos in the mag or not-Wade
Speyer has always been and continues to be
one thing: an amazing skater who truly has
skating in his blood. Take one look and die.
