Dude, it's cool. You go up there, you'll
be all right.
So how long did you stay in
New York?
We stayed a couple nights. Some
dudes tried to kill us. They were just
trying to drink us out, like, "Yeah, we
know you, you know us. We'll break
you right now." We did the Manhattan
nightlife trip, but I mean, I'll tell you
straight up I can do it, but not like
that. That's kind of rough. We went to
the top of the World Trade Center and
checked out an afternoon Sunday sin-
gles club dance party on the 107th
floor of the World Trade Center Two.
Pretty sweet. I like New York. It was a
beautiful day, that's what I'm saying.
But after the Phillyside thing I had one
more destination I wanted to get to. I
wanted to go to Boston and skate the
Cambridge pool.
No way. You went to Boston and
skated the Cambridge pool?
Well, yeah. I've been skating there
since first day I went there was
September 15, 1977. I remember
going there, and it's still available to
skate. We drove out there. Went
through Rhode Island and
Connecticut and skated some shit.
Not much, just flurfed around and cut
out. Got to Beantown and hooked up
with some dudes. We rented a pump
and drained the pool. That's it. It was
like a three-inch hose taking out the
water of that big ditch pit. We started
skating it and it was sick. Right when
we got there I looked at it and was
like, "We're going to have to rent a
pump and take care of it."
So how long were you in Boston?
Well, we were already roached
from Phillyside; I mean we gave all
that road tax, big time. And we got
there and we were just lead-footing.
it, kicking back.
So you were there like four days?
Yeah. We were there for four days,
but a bunch of the other dudes were
around. All kinds of people were in
Boston. We were really lucky; we got
the best weather the whole time we
were there. Sweet weather.
So you like Boston?
Boston's a sick place, man. Sick
street skating. It's just like when you
live in San Francisco-you skate
around and you're like, "Oh, that's
that place. I remember seeing this in a
video," or something. Just the same
kind of thing a lot of stuff, lot of
good skating. We got the killer weath-
er, so we just had time on our side.

What was going on at the
Cambridge pool?
Well, we did our gig, but then
more kids showed up, and it just
seemed like the meeting spot for
what was going on that day. We
were there pretty early in the day,
and then other kids would show
up and be like, "I love this place."
It was just a really great vibe about
skating. It's the same as it was then
as it will be forever. I just think that
if there's some place to session,
people will session. So I think that
the most logical way to do it is just
get on the road and see for your-
self. Take it when you can get it,
and if you can't get it, dig a hole
and get in it.
