Wade Speyer barged the
Texas Death Match and ended
up taking sixth with big ollies
to truck. Raise your hands if
you're sure.
The idea was
simples Invite 30,
of the best mini
ramp skaters to a
kill spot and let
them go ofl.
PRESCRIPTIONS
Markovich didn't skate on Saturday, but
went off on Sunday. Big air to rock-fakle
on the way to fourth.
SIPTION
Cinderella story of the week-
end, Chet Childress 5-0's to
fakle on the way to ninth in
his pro debut.
The ramp was open for a week, the heads
showed, the lines were drawn, and this is what
went down. Oh, yeah, we had a final jam called
the Texas Death Match where anything goes for
15 minutes. No one got hurt, but no one that was
there that day will forget that little bit of anarchy
in West Oakland. Check this out.
Commentary by Tom Guerrero
The qualifying was usual, but the Top 8 cut
was eminent with the exception of Wade
Speyer and Chris Senn. Next we're going
straight into the top 8. We've got to get every
one off the ramp when they call the top 8:
Kris Markovich, Chet Childress, Max Schaaf,
Rune Glifberg, Tim Brauch, Chet Thomas.
John Cardiel, and Phil Shao:
Top 8 about to start. First in: Kris Markovich,
huge frontside alley-oop off the extension..
Jam Format. First Fall Rebate. You go until your
fall. Markovich is getting ill: frontside half-Cab
to board fakie.
Rune Glifberg: Mega frontside nosebone offi
the extension.
Tim Brauch dropping in. Tim broke his board in
practice and he's riding my board now. Tim going
to town with all his usual antics, getting busy.
Backside air, oh!, bail on an air, but he's drop
ping back in, getting crazy.
Chet Childress: big ol' frontside ollie. Chet
Childress is going up town with his usual
antics. Frontside feeble, feeble fakie, fakie 5-0,
fakie, sick!
Chet Thomas: What can I say? Roughneck. First
Fall Rebate. Chet's going to utilize it, switch. Oh!,
bailed. Get your rebate. Frontside grab, bail.
Max Schaaf dropping in. Oh, first wall rebate.
Max about to get busy with a big ol' stalefish
oh! to shoulder, good night, that's it.
Phil Shao, first wall rebate? Oh, my God, 50/50
low to high to board disaster, come in make it
anyway. Phil Shao, don't care.
The skaters in the top 8 wanted Wade in there so
he dropped into a six foot air, showed them
what time it was.
Cardiel trying to get stupid with a big eggplant,
Sick! And pulled it. Egg-O waffles on his head.
Big ol' lien to tail, getting stupid. Bodyjar back-
side revert. Un fucking real.
Tim Brauch doing his usual antics. Backside
lipslide in off of the roll-in, backside air,
slob air, backside air, 50/50, 101 blunt tricks
and he bails on an alley-oop. The longest run
of the jam session.
Chet Childress about to get down. Ollie to bang
your stuff until you heard that one. Backside air,
tail smacker. Chet is so fucking smooth. Backside,
Smith grind, backside lipslide, frontside feeble
Smith grinds, you name it, it's all there. Backside
5-0 to backside revert. We're going to call Chet
Childress the Grind King.
Chet Thomas dropping in to a frontside flip to
frontside grab revert and fucking makes it. Short
run for Chet. Bailed a switch frontside 360 air.
Max and Phil standing on albeam that's about
four-and-half feet above the extension against
the wall and Dan didalaildrop frontside grabi
in and slammed.,
Max is looking at it. I'm not sure what he's
going to do,
Phil's checking it out. They're assesing the situa-
tion and somebody's going down. It looks like
Max is because he's dropping. Oh, my God!, drop
into disaster on the extension, good night.
Max has a nice solid run full of airs and grinds
and what not. Call him the Max Daddy.
Phil's climbing up onto the beam and who
knows what Phil's going to do. Let's see. He's in
tail position and I think he's just going to ollie
in from tail position. He is and he's sideways to
the ramp. Oh, my God!, and he makes it. That's
about ten feet high from the flatbottom. No
