What do you think about the East
Coast scene?
Those guys fuck it up. They got a
lot of heart. It seems like they put
100% of themselves into whatever
they do. I'd like to visit Rick Oyola
out in Philly sometime and skate
around the city. Downtown San
Diego has become a bust because
of all the migrant skaters.
What is skateboarding to you?
Skateboarding is a way of life. Once
your wheels get turning and you're
rolling down the street, nothing else
seems to matter. Skateboarding is
the reason I get out of bed in the
morning. If I wake up injured, the
first thing I do is check out what it is
that's hurt to see if I'm going to
skate that day. But, sometimes it is
physically impossible.
So have you got yourself some
drinking buddies?
Yeah, all kinds. My friend Droopy is
good to go unless he's doing tattoos
or drawing graphics. Then there's
Casey Cobbknobler; he's always
good for a couple of cases. And of
course you've got the Maple
crew-Steve Benson, Zach
Connelly, Dominick, Joe
McLellan also June, Dan, Shane,
AJ, Kevin Zinger, Munchie, Simon.
Tom, Mark, Larry, Mando, Cooly, Jeff,
and last but not least, Sung Kwak.
How do all of your sponsors
treat you?
Really good. I try not to ask for too
much. I appreciate everything I get.
Which skaters do you enjoy
watching?
Reeves, Donger, Kanten Russell,
June Cate, I always get a kick out
of Simon Woodstock, and Paul
Sharpe. But that's just to name a
few. Pretty much anybody who
skates solid.
What are your plans for when
you're done skateboarding?
I'll never be done skateboarding.
As far as a job in the future, I'll
probably do something in the
video industry.
What places has skateboarding
taken you to?
Japan, Australia, Europe a few.
times, and all around the States.
Which place did you enjoy
the most?
They were all fun.
Would you ever live anywhere
else besides San Diego?
I don't think so. I'd like to vacation.
different places.
Who would you like to thank?
My mom, dad and sister, all of my
sponsors, everyone at Maple, Jeff
Kendall at Krux and Direction.
Wheels, Rob Dotson at Airwalk, SRH
Clothing, Above All Skateshop.
Dragon Sunglasses, all of my friends
and anybody else who has helped
me along the way. ***

handrail with a blazing backside 5-0 grind.
This page top to bottom: It works both ways,
switch backside 5-0. After landing this big
ollie over the bar, Jason will pick up more
speed than you could handle off this rugged-
ass bank. Before heading off to the roller-
disco, Jason, Bluto and Candi kick it at the
playground, ya know.
