            AZ'CRETE
DARK CLOUDS GATHERING on the horizon telegraph the news
of an impending monsoon. The skies grow black and lightning
crackles across the sky. Thunder booms from eighteen thousand
foot woofers and torrents of rain begin to tumble down. Without
warning a previously dry arroyo erupts with a churning onslaught
of water and a family of unsuspecting gringos gets washed away
in a sudden flash flood. To some, desert storms are fearful exam-
ples of Mother Nature flexing her muscle, for others, they are
just one of the reasons the Grand Canyon state has some of the
best 'crete in the world. When you add a bunch of rich old lizards.
who just want to play golf and lounge around their backyard
swimming pools to the equation, it is no wonder that Arizona
has such a smorgasboard of concrete delights. Brian Brannon
