Dude,
You gotta
smell this,
Fart
WHO
THE FUCK IS
NEIL BLENDER?
Many modern skaters have never heard
the name Neil Blender, but his influence
in skateboarding can still be felt to this
day. Although he would never admit it,
Neil was far ahead of his time. In trick
development, in contortion and in
character, no one ever knew whether
he was coming or going. Check the
following list of things that came out
of Neil Blender's head:
Gay Twist.
Wooly Mammoth
Bean Plant...
Jolly Mamba.
No Comply.
Hippy Spin
360° mute air from fakie
Fakie frontside handplant
where you stall the nose
of your deck on the platform
Front foot frontside
footplant lien grab
Extended Miller flip
Boneless ollie over curbs
360 pogo from fakie
Fastplants. Using you foot to blast higher airs
Hand-out.
Ho-Ho
New Deal.
Manual a vert ramp platform
keeping your hand on the coping
Truth or Consequences.
L-Sit...
Regular stalled invert
into handstand into
eggplant re-entry
Stalled nose pivot
Frontside nose
pivot to rail
Lock arm invert where you drop
your lower torso to dangle just
above the coping then drop back in
Other trademark Neil oddities include barbarically
long railslides, streetplants into vert ramps and using
the nose as a focus of trickery. Neal shined the spot-
light and bailed to Ohio in the early nineties and
word has it he only skates on an old plastic deck he
bought at a junk shop. Thanks for the memories.
