what brought this on is that me
and about four of the other girls
who skate with me went into a
skateshop here in my town, and
the asshole working there told us

who deserved to be given publicity
in the skate scene, but they are the
exception. What a lot of girls
don't seem to realize is that it is
hard for guys to get sponsored
too. In this world, the people who
are the best at what they do are
the ones who get publicity. It just
happens to work out that most of
the best skaters are male. Who
gives a shit? Sure, I'm a girl, and I
happen to skate, but I don't care
who gets sponsored as long as
they can pull excellent, smooth
tricks. It really pissed me off to see
the six-page layout on girl skaters
in the February issue. There were
at least three pictures of girls hold
ing their boards, as well as four
or five pictures of girls doing noth-
ing but standing on their board.
Now tell me, what guy would
have been applauded simply
because he knew how to hold or
stand on a board? Fuck that!
Maybe if more girls could pull fat-
ter tricks than a kickflip, I would
understand their complaint. So, to
all you girls who can't seem to
quit your whining, grab your board
and show the world that you
deserve to be sponsored, other-
wise quit your bitchin' because
you're starting to give the rest of
us a headachel

then a guy at my school told me
