            HOT SAUCE
Following the eviction of 140A Linda Street
in SF, some team truck titans were seen scram-
bling to find new digs. Both Joey Tershay and
Ruben Orkin were observed packing up until
the last minute. Over the year, the pad played
host to all kinds including Chad Vogt, Andy
Roy, Bob, the Zoo Crew, Tim Upson, Julio De
La Cruz, Stranger, Arc and some others you
don't want to know about. It will be missed by
everybody except for the neighbors.

Steve Rocco. The source of the training dispute
was said to be a contract renegotiation. Sanchez
has been seen talking with Mike Carroll lately.
Rocco privately has been quoting his bodyguard

Rich Metiver has been auditioning models for

The provocateur was actually spotted near the
gates of artist Jimmy Phillips' hillside manse
holding two band-aids and a cork. Since Phillips
and Metiver were exiled from King Dickvak's
Santa Cruz empire, perhaps this is significant.

IT'S A STATE PARK
NOT A SKATEPARK
Long before the invention of the urethane wheel
and the kickflip, there were people who were
Thrashers. Way down in Norcross, Georgio, they
even went as far as to name a park after one.

BEACH BREAK
A publicity feeding frenzy has
arisen following the recent surf-
ing death of big wave rider
Mark Foo. Such mainstream
entities as The New York Times, The Los Angeles
Times, Sports Illustrated and United Press
International have devoted copious attention to
the matter. The greatest moment was when ABC

News' Tom Brokaw interviewed
emerging skater/large wave rip-
per Jay Moriarty in depth. Amid
all the thirty/twenty somethings,
professional waterman Moriarty's
full bore teenage stoke was a
stunning departure. How many
professional surfers can you name
that would consciously choose to
appear on an international TV
show with a board devoid of
sponsors' ID? Fearful of exploit-
ing the death of a rider he truly
respected, Jay passed up the cer-
tainty of commercial gain through
sponsor photo incentives. His
major sack and strange moves

ART SMART
Kevin Ancell was observed hanging a surf-
board painting of a nude surfer as viewed from
below. The art matrons at the Morphos Gallery
opening all were ecstatic over Kevin's exquisite-
ly rendered genitalia. Tumbleweed's next move
was to go to Baja where he hung out with actor
Tony Curtis. On a surf go out at Punta
Padrito, Steve Dolen and Ancell buzzed
the point in a 727 Alaskan air jet flown by
a notorious wave riding associate. Down
the point, Perry Farrell and art hench-
woman Julie Rico were filming a docu-
mentary. Meanwhile, back in Cabo, work
continued on the Van Halen ramp. Back
from the dead filmmaker Hal Jepsen was
also reportedly down on the tip of the
continent shooting for some sort of
surf/skate documentary.
