positive thinking, word was spread about-where
else? Love Park! Everyone who was capable of skat
ing hit the street course one more time before the
ramps were packed up and the show moved on. The
second move proved to be yet another problem.
The ramp delivery truck had to go back to rightful.
owner-so it was a one-way ride.
Early that Sunday, on the way to the store to find
a truck, the skaters passed through Love, and as early
as it was, they met up with a friend willing to help.
They put his truck to work and were on their way.
After three trips to Love, they set up the course and
let the games begin. Then Philly's own DJs, Cosmo
and D-Square, showed up with turntables but no gen
erator. This delay gave all the skaters plenty of time
to warm up on the new terrain of marble ledges,
flights of multiple stairs and the street course.
Once the booming sound was all set up, the ams
began their contest with two heated runs per skater.
The pro contest which soon followed was a spectacu
lar show. Finally, the scores were tallied, and the
DJs played on as everyone was free to skate. Jamie
Thomas launched a gigantic ollie into the fountain
and the day came to a close at Sub Zero as the win-
nors were awarded their hard-earned prizes. Shane

The contest was at two different places and most of these shots were taken at the
Love Park site. Clockwise from opposite top: Mod Mike Vallely made this pop shove-
over one thousand times in practice and this one makes one thousand one. DJ Cosmo
in the mix. Am victor and smooth sailor Ben Liversedge is all over that shit: 180° kick-
flip. The rookie of the year, Fred Gall, was right at home on this switch flight over the
ply pit. What's up with Huf and the 360 flip under the freeway? Does he busta?
Does he pull it? Is he still bad as fuck? You better believe it. Push, push, push, push-
Jamie Thomas (centerspread) hauls through a long nosegrind. Can't touch this.
