            SEAN MILLER
1970-1994
I first met Sean ten years ago
while skateboarding at a high
school football game in Doyles-
town, Pennsylvania. Ever since
then, we always skated togeth-
er, and in time we became close
friends. I came to know Sean's

life and skating as being synonymous with
power. Anyone who has ever seen him skate
can tell you he wasn't one to quit. There are
people who saw Sean as a rebel when in fact
he helped many people get their lives going
in the right direction. I feel privileged to have
grown up with and learned to skate with Sean.
I would like to thank all of the people who
attended the services. I would like to give my
heartfelt condolences to Marietta Stoeckel,
Ben Miller, Mala Beckhoff, Harry Barford, the
Miller Family, and everyone else who was
close to him. Sean serves as an inspiration to
everyone who ever saw what he was capable
of, both as a skater and a friend. In this way,
Sean Miller will live on forever. -Barker Barrett
The Awful Truth
From The Sun Herald
June 26, 1994
Sydney, Australia
More than eight
hundred angry youths
marched to an empty
Parliament House
yesterday to protest
against public skate-
boarding restrictions.
Dressed in standard
skateboarder's uni-
forms of layers of
loose shirts hanging
out over baggy
trousers and topped
with reversed base-
ball caps, the angry
board riders rolled
through the city

streets to oppose a
new anti-skating law
which comes into
force on Friday. The
protest, which dis-
rupted city traffic,
rolled from Sydney
Town Hall to Parlia-
ment House.
The new law gives
police and council
officers the power
to confiscate both
skateboards and
in-line skates if
riders are caught
using no-skating
areas, including
public streets.
