I think back to days alone, living with my folks. I had
just quit school as you would amputate a gangrenous
limb, severing it completely. Months followed in dark-
ness that will live inside me forever. Of course the
music was loud. I could feel the rhythm shaking my
foundations. I screamed into the mirror with the words,
demanding retribution I didn't understand. Yearning
for a peace I couldn't withstand. I locked myself in my
room with the blinds drawn, hoping to exhaust myself
completely before I had to deal with the people who
understood me less with every day that passed.
I've since climbed out of that ditch I dug then. But
you can't outrun the darkness that lives inside you. I
