SOILED SLACKS
After witnessing Bone Cootes, Snuggles
and Tumbleweed Ancell's gig at the Slow
Club, Mike Rector reportedly underwent an
epileptic seizure on the way home from the
event. Rector crashed at KT's, where he
passed-out, woke-up in vomit and split the
next day without saying a word. And you
think you're a veteran?
The opening of the Deluxe store in SF heralds

With mainstays like Jeff Klindt involved, anything

Jay Adams is the proud father of a new son

twelve surfboards and his infamous skate collec-

TEXAS TROUBLE
Another Shut Up And Skate

Houston. Worthy moments in-

third, Mike Carroll in at fifth and
Mike Crum winning vert in front

WAVE GOOD-BYE
After moving to California to become a pro skater,
Sal Barbier has taken up surfing in his ultimate
coastal metamorphosis. Reportedly, the master of
the mic is looking for the green room daily, but as

DOPE SCOPE
Down in San Luis Obispo, the tenth annual
Thrash-a-thon went off and somehow Sonja
Catalano got Cal-Poly to kick down for two PSL
pro contests. The mini-ramp contest held quite a
few spectator's eyes, while the street left a lot to
be desired. Highlights of the ramp included Wade
Speyer tearing it down with switchstance 360°
ollies over the hip and frontside nollie heelflips
to tail, Colin McKay burning kickflip noseslides to
fakie, Andy Roy going balls to the wall, Gershon
sking out and Omar Hassan making his shit clean
and winning the 500 bones. Oh yeah, Alan
Petersen generally bruised minds with his "I don't
know what it is, but I can pull it style." In the street
area, the cement cracks and cheesy obstacles did
nothing to deter Guy Mariano from 180' kickflip-
ping the volcano, Mike V sticking it with power,
Adam McNatt's usual underground ripping and
Simon's quiver antics. Danny Way was injured
from a motor spill, while Sal Barbier gave
insight on shoelace technique and kick-
flipped the hip while the shutterbugs
scrambled. Cardiel was seen sleep-
ing in the parking lot of the motel
spitting and hissing at passersby

young, such has been the case with
Troy. For the last ten years Troy was
one of Sacramento's premier
skaters/snowboarders. Smooth,
fast, innovative and stylish are
words that come to mind when I
think of him. He was always willing
to try something new and differ-
ent. He was always going faster, far-
ther and cleaner than the time
before, Troy was good at whatever
he attempted, but that never went
to his head. He had his shit togeth
er and was going somewhere in life.
he loved camping and spent a lot
of time with his friends. He was
always there for advice or a belp-

masses. He loved life and lived it
passionately I remember him kick-
