Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Population: 628,088
Back in the early eighties, Laverne,
Shirley, Lenny and Squiggy made this
place famous as the Beer City. Jeffery
Dahmer also did some famous stuff
here. If these aren't the kind of things
that interest you, try paying a visit to
Phase II Skateshow. They can brief you
on all-important city history. They may
even tell you where to find some key
spots for skateboard pleasure. Also be
sure and visit the Turf Skatepark.

Neil Marculaitis was one of the first cats we
talked to. We shot the breeze while Mark Tengow-
ski threw himself off a rather large downtown gap.
Neil was alright, no delusions of grandeur to trip
over. After our chat, I began to realize maybe all
skaters aren't as big an idiot as I am.
Columbus, Ohio
I woke up in the parking lot of Dodge Skate
Park in Columbus, Ohio. The good news was I had
NyQuiled the death-flu into submission. The bad
news was that the only thing that kept me from
falling into a coma was an ear-bleeding headache.
We stumbled from the car and were greeted by
the park's overseer, Donny Humes. Donny is a
busy beaver, running the concrete outdoor park
while editing Smelly Curb Zine.
Martin Blenkinsop, Mike Newton and Chris
Potter arrived and blazed. Martin was fastest, so
he wins in my book. Fast is my bread and butter.
Later that evening while Andrew and Ben slept
in the car, Adam shot some downtown stuff of the
Columbus boys, while I sat in pain and watched.
"Watching in pain," would soon become a recur-
ring theme for me on this trip.
Donny, Martin, Mike, Chris, tally up four more
names for the nice guy list.
