The main goal of this reunion is to
evaluate the state of the present sys-
tem and keep it running perpetually
smooth for the years that follow.
The nucleus of all the action is the
legendary homecoming game. This is
usually the most important game of
the season. It gives the youth an
excellent opportunity to show their
peers the fire still burns, the wheel
still turns and the spirit is alive.
Meantime, while the young turks
carry the torch on the field, it is not
uncommon for the heroes of yester-
year to sneak off to go warm up out
in the parking lot. Although a bit
rusty, an old dog is usually welcome
to show off his tricks. After all, it is
homecoming.
Let's face it, skateboarding will
never be a shirts versus skins sport
and that's what sets it apart. As for
a reunion, hold a contest in a big
city like SF for five years in a row
and hold it right in the middle of
Labor Day weekend fair every year,
and you bet your ass you get some
alumni. Over 140 competitors from
all over the world came to check the
action. Spectators young and old
filled the grandstands and remained
on their feet for three days.
