TRUE ENLIGHTENMENT
The year is 1989. I've got an Alva
Chris Cook deck, Sims wheels and
Tracker trucks. Anyway, I decide to get
into launch ramps with my friend Gary
So one Saturday I build a three-foot
launch in about three hours. My broth-
e Aron does a fake no problem. So I
think to myself, I can do that (NOT)
I approach it slightly fast, bend my
knees and push too hard. My board
fies out beneath me, over the ramp
and I land on my back and elbows
I learned a very important thing that
day: Don't be trendy and follow every-
thing everybody does. Learn at a slow
pace and it'll work out. I cut my launch
down to a foot-and-a-half and I'm still
trying fakies. But at least I'm trying
