In the beginning it was cast off construction grade 2x4 timbers
and steel roller skate wheels. No glamour, no glory. Just the
unadulterated pursuit of edge thrills. Those that rode did it
because they had to. Clay wheels and woodshop class project decks
became the norm. Hand-rendered designs on boards generally followed
the style of surfboard graphics of the day. Those who excelled as
