Everyone remembers that first hill when they went faster than they could run, but
who is willing to pay the price all over again for riding the other way? Running it
out from fakie at warp speed is pretty hairy, but skateboarding is changing and we
are left with no choice but to rethink our world. Unidirectional riding is making the
core of current trick description obsolete. Goofy-foot, regular, nose, tail and even
fakie have no meaning. They are relics of the past, stigmas hindering entrance.
into the next phase of skating, where the only thing to fear will be complacency.
There was a time when someone
would ask. "Are you regular foot?
There is a killer handrail for regulars
down the street from my house." Or
"That pool is made for goofy
skaters." Well,
Joe Gruber (below) may call it one thing, but tomorrow it might sound like forward midslide end tap revert.
