Have you ever been arrested?
Yeah. Me, B.K., Shruge, Noah, Stacy Gibo and
Aaron were in this pool in Millbrae and the cops
came. They tied us together with these plastic
ties, put us in the car and went to the station for a
couple of hours, took fingerprints, mug shots. We
fought it in court, but we ended up paying $125
each to repair the pool.
What do you think about skate harassment?
A lot of cops don't understand skating, but there's
a handful who do. Sometimes they ask if they can
ride your board. The majority of the police suck.
Name two of your favorite movies.
Silence of the Lambs and Terminator 2.
Will you ever have kids?
If I have a lot of money and a good girlfriend,
sure, why not?
Do you want to be buried or cremated?
Maybe cremated.
Where has skateboarding taken you?
I've been all over Europe Finland, Norway, Den-
mark, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Holland,
Belgium, England, France...
Best skate trips?
Skating the steel ramp under the bridge in Ams-
terdam with rippers like Adam Luxford, Alan
Midgett, Chris Robison and Arco. We rented a
piece of lawn in some field for the night, five dol-
lars for this space of dirt. I went to New York a
long time ago and skated the Brooklyn banks with
Sheffey, Coco, Kepper and Dune. You meet a lot
of cool people all over just skating different
places. There are lots of memorable skate trips.
One of the best was in '85 or '86. Dan Feldman,
Tyrone, Bill Reese and I went to Venice Beach
from Portland. We skated Upland, went to Venice
beach, did some hand railings and wall rides, and
skated a jump ramp.
Worst skate trip?
One of my worst skate trips was when I was in
Sweden. We drove all day to get to this place and
we ended up skating and that was cool. But, that
night we were hungry and John Montessi was
sick. We wanted to sleep but the guys we were
with wanted to look for girls. For food, they ended
up taking us to fucking McDonald's! We wanted to
take showers, but our hotel didn't have any hot
water and the beds were hard. It sucked. We
drove five hours the next day to this place. I was
sore and not into the demo. We were in the van
and all these kids started knocking on it. I was try-
ing to sleep and was ignoring them. Somehow
they opened the door, and pulled me up by my
hair, asking me for my autograph and taking pic
tures of me. I felt like grabbing them and jumping
them, but then they would all think Danny Sargent
was a dick. It wasn't worth it. So I signed all their
autographs.
Do you have a new board coming out?
Yeah, I'm going to have a much better board out
it's almost done. Slim, but with a big nose and
plastic skin. We're trying to make a another video.
Any closing comments?
Keep skating, and the more places you'll skate,
the better you will feel. Have fun and keep pro-
gressing. Skate hard, fall down and go boom!
