What the heck is that bozo
doing on the front of the June issue
of Thrasher? Having subscribed to
this rag for three or four years for
my kids, I thought it was about time
to find out why they were so
attached to it. Having looked
through this month's issue, I find it
very subversive.
I had to go down and get my
son, Darrin, and his buddies
boards at the police station. The
policeman was talking about a
lawsuit. Seems Darrin, Kris,
George, Todd and Larry were all
caught skating in the local private
swimming pool! That's on page 31.
I was stopped by a church lady
who said her preacher was going
to sue if they caught the kids
skating off of the church steps and
sliding on the handrails anymore.
That's on page 25.
An editorial in the Anadarko
Daily News complained about
skateboarders emptying trash
barrels and jumping over them with
their skateboards. That's on page
96. The skateboarders can't skate
down around the gymnasium in
Anadarko because they are
wearing the curbs and cement
down. That's on page 42.

What the heck is that big kid on
page 69 doing in that class with
second graders? Do most skate
boarders take a little longer to get
out of school or was that kid the
teacher's son who got in trouble for
taking his board to school when he
knew they are banned? Whatever
he's doing in that class, I don't
want my kids doing it! I'm tired of
all the nonsense, and I now know
where it is coming from.
One thing about it, skaters who
take Thrasher don't have to read a
whole heck of a lot. It's mostly
pictures. Whatever that guy is
doing on the front cover, I don't
want my kids doing it!

After reading Thrasher I realize 1
how big skateboarding really is! I
had no idea so many young men
and women were involved. But,
what happened to the pictures of
the young women? There must be
a few who can be photographed to
suit your magazine.
When my son got into this sport
I thought it would just be a passing
fancy. As it turned out, he has been
a pro for some time now. And we
are so proud of him. I worry a lot.
as all mothers do, but thanks to
your magazine I've learned that it
can be a safe sport. Keep up the
good work on helping to learn
about the bare facts.
