When it comes to speed, Vaughn
Shafer is king. He seared the land
speed record at 69.11 m.ph. cn a
motorized skateboard on the
quarter-mile drag strip. When he
speaks at schools, he's latown as
Captain Safety, but Shafer also
goes for broke in the jump
department, leaping over five cars
from a 50 m.p.h. motorcycle tow with
his feet strapped firmly on the board.
He prefers to jump over nice cars
though, no Yugos. If he can find six
red Ferraris, someday Vaughn might
break that record too.
