A REWARD is being offered for the return
of a number of collector skates and artifacts
stolen from the Krypto display of San Diego's
recent ASR Expo. Contact Jack Smith for
specifics at (805) 772-3318. If you can't make
history, don't steal someone else's.
RUMOR MILL
At this writing a little bird has just dropped
the news that Danny Way may have gone
Blind after a falling out with the H-men.
Never one to be outdone, Brad Dorfman
has authorized and (by the time you read
this) officially christened a super new training
ramp at the Vision shoe warehouse. Said
ramp is rumored to be designed and built by
master skater/carpenter Tim Payne, features
an L-shaped design with a bowled off end
and is definitely for the vertically inclined.
Rumors from the south side of San Fran
claim that the once-reknowned HP ramp is
now a fully functional refurbished mini.
Big City politics. Is 42nd Ward Alderman
Burt Natarus the main man behind anti-
skate laws in Chicago? Did this same alder-
man help ban breakdancing and street musi-
cians in the early eighties? Strangely, does
Natarus' son roll upon 7 plys of Canadian
hardrock? Register to vote. Prevent this
tragedy and help a son out.
HAWAIIAN CRUNCH.
It used to be that a trip to the islands was
a special treat and somewhat exclu when
it came to skating the right spots with the
locals or surfing the north shore with Rory
and Gerry. It's been a decade since Tony
Alva walked the walls at Stoker Hill and Roy
Jamieson, Darren Ho and Vince Kline gave
us a peek of the Pearl City pool. There has
always been a strong skate presence in the
Islands without any help from the mainland.

BOUNCER OF
THE MONTH
Our featured bouncer this
month is Tommy Vision, prob-
ably the most amicable door
technician in San Francisco's
thriving nightclub scene. He's
one tough customer when it
comes to dealing with the
night creatures, having had his
share of confrontations. He's
been stabbed once,
and shot in the face.
Don't forget to give TV.

his domain because he'll

veteran Gary Owens are living proof of that.
Then along comes the NSA, and with a lot
of help from Seattle-based Bike Factory, you
have the second annual Pro skate shebang
at Honolulu's Blaisdell Arena. Now that the
Hawaiian skate experience has been shat-
tered let's get into the dirt. A lot of off board
activity is always centered around tourist in-
fested Hanauma Bay. Todd Hastings spent
the better part of his trip butting heads with
turtles, eels and assorted groupers while
Caballero swam back and forth to the blow
hole at least a dozen times via some secret
sea cave only he knows. Peralta tried to
camouflage himself amongst the other white
bodies on the beach while guys like Hogan,
Jansen, Nash, Sanderson, Pust and a slew
of others used the snorkel and mask
set-up to gain underwater perspec-1
tives on the ladies.
Meanwhile, across town at Sera's
Skates the reluctant tourist
Tony Hawk was swarmed upon
by admirers. Christian Hosoi
was greeted with awe and
treated like a lost Hawaiian
king while Steve Saiz
bled all over the cloth-
ing racks from a fresh
flesh wound. MTV did
remotes from the Pink
Cadillac and the 1
arena, and just about
everybody stayed out
of jail and avoided the
wrath of the locals Till
next year, Mahalo.

NSA UPDATE
Well, it's getting impossible to keep up with
the moves and shakes of the "new" NSA.
Each week it seems the beleagured organ-
ization becomes even newer. At the last
meeting of the board, President Tom Cozens
didn't make it through the day, as he was
removed from office by vote. Could it be a
case of the right man in the wrong place at
the wrong time (and maybe the wrong sport)?
