JEFF KENDALL - Kennedox is ruling the
roost down at the San Jose warehouse
these days, and when you give this guy a
consistent practice facility his ability starts
to shine. Jeff was a factor in every event
last year, including street and mini, here
and overseas. Jeff is returning to his
younger ripping form while adding a
twist of burl and gnarl to the newest
tricks and fattest airs.
DANNY WAY Let's keep it short. When Danny Way is on
the ramp he can make the best get weak in the knees and drool
on their shirts. He's fearless, willing to take a slam, reasonably
sturdy so far and just drove the final nail on his new backyard
ramp. If he stays on, he's in there for years to come.
AL LOSI
Al came from the Varibot nametag in the early
eighties to being known as one of the loosest, most power-
ful and innovative skaters of the decade. His lipwork has
given new meaning to the word hang-up. He tore/toured
across Europe last year, winning, placing and raging in
every contest, new town and nightclub he entered. Losi has
re-established himself on the pro tour with one of the most
consistent top ten records over the last ten years. Despite
the fact that he's constantly battered and under the ice,
look for Al to stay hungry and eat 'em up this year.
60
MICKE ALBA - Ever since he won the
Hester Series overall at age
thirteen Micke hasn't let up. He
may not show all the tricks but he'll
always get in his licks. Although
Malba skates the streets, his life's
work is on vertical canvases like
backyard pools, desert pipes, Mt.
Baldy pipe and his own ramp in
the Badlands. It's in the larger
environs that Malba really
shows his awesome aggres-
sion, stability and finesse. In
a contest situation it's guts,
green and his veteran strategy
that pushes Micke into the
win column. He's a skater
who's been there before.
