A bumper crop of new talent has entered the pro ranks this year, all
gifted with ground-breaking, death-defying abilities. Just remember-
the new guard is only that good because they have to beat the battle-
weathered top guns. No, we're not ignoring other long-time high-fliers
(names like Mountain, Gonz, Phillips, Guerrero spring to mind),
consider this a red-hot cross-section from the top of the totem pole.
CHRISTIAN HOSOI- Christian will skate anywhere, any time, with anyone-with
or without pads, helmet or even shoes. He'll skate nightclubs, sidewalks, cars,
houses, your ramp, his ramp, any pool, hill, street, curb, parking lot or plaza
and dominate the session with speed, power and style. He'll challenge himself
as much as others. Christian is in the top five at contests, guaranteed, if not on
top. 1989 was an off year, but he still came on to win both street and vert in
Japan. At home Master Hosoi stokes himself by playing pool with friends, work-
ing out the Wing Tsun dummy, mountain biking or cuddling with his lady
friend. This year Christian will be looking for a new house with three
ramps, skating more, skating with the best and...just skating.
