Rumor of the Month: The Sex Pistols are getting back together John
"Rotten" Lydon has allegedly been approached with a six million dollar
offer to lead the original Pistols (minus one) on a six-date U.S. Jour. Sup-
posedly, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock and Paul Cook have all agreed
to the proposition. Mr. Rotten is denying everything and we'll believe
it when we see it. A gentler reunion of sorts has also been taking
place in jolly old England. All former Smiths members (except guitanst
Johnny Marr) are reportedly recording with Mr. Morrissey, for a platter
to be released under his name... British sample-rap crew, Pop Will
Eat Itself, has signed with RCA, so look for an American release soon..
Never heard of P.W.E.I.? They're the guys who toured Britain with Run
DMC and got booed off the stage by
other white hipsters because they
weren't "black" enough.... San Fran-
cisco homeboys the Beat Nigs have
invaded the above-mentioned island to
play on the infamous Peel Sessions...
In England, the current popularity of
Acid-House music (over-produced,
digitized disco) has done more than just
lower British musical integrity, it has
raised some serious hackles. The
popularity of a particular design (the
Happy Face) among LSD-loving acid-
housers has prompted a number of Lon-
don stores to stop selling shirts with said
logo. What a bad influence a smile can
be. No more stage diving for
Fishbone keyboard king Chris Dowd.
have signed with Mechanic Records, leaving Noise for Mechanic's MCA
distribution... In the wake of Dag Nasty's demise, bassist Doug Car-
rion is currently readying a new outfit along Smiths lines and axeman
Brian Baker is finishing up in the studio, playing rhythm guitar for Gef-
fen's Junkyard. Described as "ZZ Top meets Guns & Roses," Junkyard
will be supporting a major arena tour early next year... One-time DOA
bassist Randy Rampage resurfaces as vocalist for Vancouver power-
metalists Annihilator who will be releasing a full-rength Lp on Roadracer
early next yearn the wake of the demise of UK metallers Grim
Reaper, vocalist Steve Grimmit has joined up with Onslaught who are
currently putting the finishing touches on their third album. The
Forgotten Rebels a classic example of a basically under-rated cult
following band, have been tearing up the Great White North They
shouldn't be missed if they assault your town Metal Church announced
a new lead vocalist and lead guitarist: Mike Howe (formerly with Heretic)
and John Marshall (best known for his work in Metallica) will be replacing
David Wayne and Jurdt Vanderhoof. Look for Metal Church's new Lp
Blessing in Disguise." Combat Records recently signed Phila-
delphia's Faith or Fear (you can check them out on Metal Blade's last
compilation), Doomwatch from Pittsburgh, Devastation from Texas,
Forced Entry from Seattle, and
The Annihilated from England.
In late October an entire metal en-
tourage from Combat descended
upon Philadelphia for a massive
video session. The end results

He broke his leg and has reportedly been performing in a
wheelchair. No, the Violent Femmes did not break up-
they just took their sweet time self producing their new
release. The album, entitled "3" is on Slash/Warner and
should be available any day now. Keep your eyes open, the
Femmes will be touring soon as well... Crumbsuckers
vocalist Chuck Nitro has quit the band. His departure is being
blamed on "musical differences." Boston Bud-bugs.
Gang Green are releasing a 5-song mini-Lp in homage to
Van Halen's last effort (entitled "OU812"). The boys are call-
ing their new album "18184U". The "original" UK Subs
have reformed, Nicky Garrett, Alvin Long and Charlie
Harper having recently recorded a full-length album for Gar-
rett's new Red Archives label. One-time 7-Seconds/Catatonics pounder
Belvy K. handles the drum chores. Belvy is also currently involved in
a self-described "glam" band called Demolition Boys... Voi Vod

incorporates the infamous RS lips.
The disc is to be a mini-Lp "Sugar-
shit Sharp" and features an ex-
tended cover of Einsturzende Neu-
baten's "Yu Gung." (Part of the EN
logo is also involved in the Pussy
Galore design, but apparently EN
were more forthcoming about work-
ing with the band.). New Metal
Blade signings include Angkor Watt
from Texas, The Goo Goo Dolls
from Buffalo, NY, and NYC's
Princess Pang November was
an exhausting month for San Fran
cisco dwellers, with multiple killer
shows every week that caused
widespread sleep deprivation. The
Fillmore got Devo-stated; Sonic Youth were sub-sonic, but
tour-mates, Die Kreuzen ripped; the Cramps spooked
everyone on Halloween night; Rat Scabies carried The
Damned (minus Captain Sensible) to a femi-screamer;
almost every club in the greater S.F. area got Gwar'ed ad
nauseum; House of Wheels and Speed Racer re-opened
the Deaf Club with a roar; Ice-T kicked it nine-thousand at
the I-Beam after openers MCM and the Monster whipped
the crowd into a frenzy (ever think you'd see a pit at one of
Ice's shows?); Red Kross shook the same club a couple of
weeks earlier....D.O.A. finished recording a new album at
Profile Studios in Vancouver, B.C. Other Profile patrons include
S.N.F.U., who have taken their latest record to L.A. to have
it engineered by Cecil English... The new improved Screaming Sirens
will be appearing in The Running Kind, a feature length movie that will
be released in Europe soon.
