LITTLE SQUIRT
I was just wondering if there was any
way to stop your bearings from squeak-
ing besides oil?
Jason Brown and Ryan Strickland
San Jose, CA
The reason bearings squeak is
because they're dry and need to be
lubricated. Oil works the best. If you
can't use oil for some reason, any li-
quid will probably stop the squeak but
your bearings will wear out a lot faster.
For instance, if you're out riding.
around and they start to squeak you
can try spitting in them. That works,
but I would suggest putting oil in them
as soon as you can.
DEVO
I have been skating 2½ years and I just
found out the secret to skating-devotion.
After receiving this information from God,
I have been skating three to four hours
a day. I skated hard in the past but not
with this kind of dedication. I was on the
verge of shop sponsorship, but I broke my
ankle during a demo. Now I'm in a cast.
My doctor, who is a severe pessimist, told
me to burn my board and quit skating. I
love skating; it's the one thing I do well.
My question is, should I keep skating or
not? And if I do, what sort of precautions
should I take to prevent this from happen-
ing again? After the demo, a bunch of kids.
told me the same thing happened to them
and they still skate.

Well, I'll tell you. The answer to this
is going to have to come from deep
down within your soul. To start with,
that same devotion to skating will have
to be used for rehabilitation of the in-
jured ankle. Get that baby built back
up, then ask yourself, "Am I ready?
Can I do it? Should I do it?" Shit yeah!
Just make sure you have the physical
confidence to begin your skate train-
ing. Also, wait a while before blasting
any big air landings.
DO IT
I have a real problem. At school I like
a lot of girls. About every week, I ask a
different one of them out, even though I
know she'll say "no." How can I stop from
doing it?
Rad and Rippin Dude

Whoa, bad attitude. You're admitting
failure before you even try. If your
potential date rate is one per week, I'm
sure it's only a matter of time. How can
you stop from doing it? Here again, I
think you've got the wrong idea. I
thought you wanted to start doing it,
in which case you've got no need for
an answer.
DIRTHEAD
My search for challenging terrain has
led me to the dirt. Now, I like to skate hills
and trails. Unfortunately, I can't find any
decent wheels. My polyurethane wheels
handle hard-pack dirt, stones, glass,
weeds and twigs but they don't handle.
raw dirt, gopher holes, sand, rock, bran-
ches or bushes. Doc, where can I find
some monster sized wheels, maybe
something inflatable?
Mike Johnson
Monterey, CA
Yeah, dude, dirt is cool! Riding down
trails at speed is so sketchy because
you're on the verge of disaster at all
times. But, I'll tell ya, since most of the
wheel fads have come and gone, not
many modern wheels are dirt appli-
cable. At one time there was a tall, hard
rubber wheel strictly for dirt and sand.
I don't recall the name. They were more
or less a joke then as well as now. What
works best is a wide wheel. I had some
UFOs that were about three or four in-
ches wide. They were kinda slow, but
effective. In fact, I also have a brand
new set that has never touched soil.
Fifty bucks and they'm yours.
Hey kids, remember that if you skate
down dirt hills, you'll soil your stylish
skate wear. You can take care of that
problem right now, though, because
the Ask The Doctor t-shirt is
fashionable even when filthy. Send
