SORRY
Guilt, gnawing dread,
failure. Yeah gang, we
blew it big time.
Remember our
"Disguised Potential"
Contest? Just name the
three masked skaters; simple
we thought... Well, no-one
guessed all three. Jason
Meadows of Itasca, Illinois
guessed the background
(Michelangelo's David) and
Bolton Colburn of Laguna,
California identified
Brigade Manager Todd
Hastings. So, sadly we
admit that we made it too
hard. However, 500 bucks
worth of products are still
available to the first skater to
correctly I.D. the three disguised
guys by mail (on a
postcard please). Since
Todd is known, just
guess the other two.
HINT: Their names are
somewhere in this ad.
HINT: Look at page
bottom. To hide our shame
and to make it up to our
friends, we now offer a new
contest for another 500 bucks of Powell Peralta
products. First skater to correctly name by mail
the artist who created the fabulous fine art
BONES
skate sculpture shown here wins. Please send all entries on a postcard. (Contest not open to
Powell Corp. employees and known associates.) HINT: The artist is a skater's wife. HINT: The
artist lives in the north. HINT: Think F-style.

SKATER'S DREAM #12
By Wot Mi
executed by Danny Sargent
The origins of this trick trace
back to the Far East, combining
general skateboarding talents
with basic elementary methods
of levitation.
Sounds simple, right? Well, not
exactly. You'll need a smooth,
level surface to begin your roll.
I suggest a moderate amount of
speed. Crouch with your arms
held slightly bent at your sides
and your back foot over the back
truck And your front foot just
behind the front truck. Say to
yourself, "I think I can, I think I
can," and spring up high above
your board, flapping your arms as
fast as a hummingbird, and
scream, "I am an eagle!"
Up to this point it's all been
easy. Now, the tricky part is hover-
ing over your board.
Ideally, you want to let your legs
dangle, pointing your toes down
slightly, but that's how the pro's do
it. If you begin to drift away from
your board (as our model is doing
STEP BY STEP
in frames four
through eight), you'll
have to bend your legs a bit
and alter your flapping until
you regain control.
To land, simply reduce your
flapping velocity, point your toes
to where your feet want to go and
gently descend onto your deck.
