power and intensity in going for the
sweeping U2 sound; it just doesn't
work. The title cút proves too lengthy
and hookless to be terribly effective
while the likes of "Catching" and
"Not Enough Time" are direct

they are live or on previous demos

with nary a laser. It's a particularly
wide-sweeping retrospective of the

That's their real name up there, all
eleven syllables worth, though their
English fans have taken to calling
them Fuzzbox or, too cutely, the Fuz
zies. Who are these wacky-looking
leenyboppers? They're all girls under
20, they can't sing, they can't play,
their lyrics are dumb as anything.
Face it, they're pretty trashy, But, hey
they're more fun, real and enjoyable
than many a band of "pros" who can
sing, play, write meaningful lyrics
and are as boring as your mother's
leftover rice pudding. Whoever said
music had to be "good" to be good,
anyway? Bostin' Steve Austin is great
fuzzy pop about dumb subjects
(rules, romance and the eternal, all-
important teen dilemma of how to get
that certain boy to like you). Best
songs are "Jackie," "XX Sex" and
"Rules and Regulations Fuzzbox
are set to tour the States soon, I hear

in a vegetable field. Now that she's
pappy, as in overdone onions in your

Johnny Peel, decides that his rent
fund needs assistance and comes up
with the sure-fire cure-all for the big
man with the deed in his hand.
Nowadays, Siouxsie and the Bash-
ed Knees wanna be, like, scary, but
they were way scarier then. "Cause
you didn't know if she was gonna -
drop dead at any moment from inhal-
ing a bottle of Seconal and chasing
it with the 100 proot likker of your
choice. There's nothing like a person
who's willing to sacrifice brain duty
for some punk rock ideal and pull it
off convincingly. Siouxsie did and this
vinyl heap is testament to it all. BC

Aerosmith, New York's Das Damen
make their mark as a major
contender. Suffice it to say, the Big
Apple's hairiest cut a massive swath
of ringing guitars, slashing drum
beats and hysterical vocals. While
their self-titled debut Ep treaded a
60s rock wheel, Jupiter Eye kicks
ferociously and bites with a fury
comparable to "Metal Circus" era
Husker Du. Wearing their influences
on their sleeves. Das Damen prove
fresh and energetic enough to score
high in the Minneapolis-inspired rock i
