RAMP
Mike Mcintyre and family's Page Mill)
ramp is a good example of an ideal
ramp. Considered by many to be the
best in NorCal, this structure boasts
a beautiful backyard setting, big (but
not too big) transitions and cement
pool coping. The only problem for
Mike instant crowds after the last nail
was set.

RAMPED UP!
THE UPS AND DOWNS OF NEIGHBORHOOD RAMPS
While the pure act of skateboarding is assured
passage into future generations, the plywood
ramps we ride are not. By nature, wood is bio-
degradable and wear and tear from weather
and repeated sessioning can speed up the pro-
cess. To top that off you've got cops, crowds
and city councils adding to the destruction.
Without a little tender
loving care, that
once shiny new
ramp can be
reduced to scrap
in no time. Here are
a few examples of the
trials and tribulations of
owning your own, and
what it takes to keep it up.

CHAVEZ'
RAMP
The Chavez ramp in Richmond, CA
displayed an economical use of
space and structure by using the
back wall of the house for support.
Alas, after a long life the small but
fun ramp succumbed to that com-
mon disease that destroys many
fine ramps-neighbor complaints.
