making your ramp
STRONG
Being an old, seasoned skater, I've had the op-
portunity to session many ramps. I've seen
ramps built extremely well that last for years, and
I've seen some collapse after a few hours of
abuse. With experience as a carpenter and an
education in civil engineering, I have applied
common sense and school learning to the pro-
cedures of ramp building. What I have deduced
is that a ramp's structure will last forever if its
members are connected correctly at the joints,
using triangles, gusset plates and structural steel
ties. In this article I will go over a few basic con-
necting and building methods which will increase
the strength and longevity of your ramp.

This delapidated half-pipe in Sweden is definitely hurting and sorely in need of some strengthening techniques.
