First, one small tip about hippers
as a result of edging out: when one
approaches a backside grind, one
should approach the coping and
beyond as a public toilet; never get
too close to the edge, it could be
fatal. I am what I call an evolutionary
skater, in that I started with primitive
instruments and ideas (a Freeformer
and a piece of plywood propped up
with suitcases). I didn't settle for my
surroundings because, skating simply
didn't exist there. I built inclines;
bending, adding and skating to my
THE HORROR...
While reading the latest issue of
THRASHER the other day I asked
myself what the hell is all this skull,
grim reaper, suicidal shit being
pushed at me? Do the Hell's Angels
have a skate team? Personally I
don't skate because I have some la-1
tent death wish, I skate for the pure
stoke of it.
All these mushroom companies
who are promoting it have nothing
else to go on. Could it be that they
are foreseeing their own future? 1
say support the companies and
desires. And now I find myself a mod-shops that have supported skating
ern civilized skater, with knowledge
and experience of all the pleasures
of vertical skateboarding. But skat-
ing has come to a critical point.
People, (skaters at heart), are ask-
ing themselves these questions:
Why do people always try to
squeeze something more out of
skating (beyond fun)? Why the hell
do non-skater types keep trying to
corrupt skating (money wise)? What
the hell are we going to do about it?
I think the only possible solution lies
within the skaters themselves. It's
not just all this shit like trendies, or
BMX'ers or cops, it's the total struc-
ture of skating today. If you find the
answer, I want to know.

BURNT OFFERING
When my friend finally broke his
Skull & Sword board we held a ritual
and burnt it. The next day we all wore
black to school and mourned the
board. He now has the ashes in an
urn in his room, and he's happily
going to buy another P/P board!

CHECK US OUT, EH!
Hey! Listen up you conceited
Americans. We "Colossal Canucks"
are just as good as you bozos, if not
better. What about coverage of your
Northern Neighbors from Upstairs?
We skate too and want some
acknowledgement, but we're not get-
tin it. Oh sure, we know of Gator,
Gonzales, Hosol, etc... but what
about the "Rad Ramp Rompers
from way up north? Like us: Rad
Brad, Fly'n Bri'n and Hand Plant
McJanet.

poseurs and the insignificant issue
on "Butt Shots."We're writing to com-
pliment on the radical job Kevin,
Mofo and the other staff are doing.
A rippin' skatezine for today's up-
dates and pictures for us skaters is
something to be desired. We all per-
sonally think that your mag tears.

BAD KAR-MA
Pat

One day I was riding down the
biggest hill in Kentucky and a car
came up a hill and came this far from
knocking the heck out of me. I
caught up, cussed him out and got
his license plate. Two days later the
guy killed my dog.

LOOK BOTH WAYS
My friends and I were skating this
rad ditch over in Prunedale. When
we finally had to leave we all crossed
the highway and, well, everyone else
made it across. I almost made it too,
if it wasn't for this semi. The last thing
I remember is opening my eyes and
flipping off the truck driver. You
people out there might think you're
rad because you can pull off harsh
tricks, but let me tell you, you can
get killed for the stupidest things. So
take my advice and look both ways
before you cross the street and don't
try to press your luck or you'll be in
a hosptial and you won't be able to
skate for a while.

DISCOMBOBULATED BUT
SKATED
My friend and I were skating the
other day, doing twist and drops off
the roof of our apartment complex
and landing on the downhill drive-
way. My friend's legs telescoped into
his chest and he lay there, bleeding
to death. I wasn't so lucky. I landed
successfully (ignoring the fact that I
bit off my tongue) and rolled down
the driveway. Flying off the curb, I
landed in the street doing 38 mph.
That was when I saw the UPS truck.
I avoided the front grill, but got the
rear view mirror embeded in my chin.
I was dragged senseless for one-
hundred feet, regaining conscious-
ness just in time to see my board
decapitate the neighbor's dog. It was
just then that the driver noticed my
twisted form hanging off the truck.
He threw on the brakes and I was
hurled into a tree shredder. Laughing
hysterically, the attendant pulled me
from the grasp of the blades. "Damn
skater," he exclaimed as he threw
my mangled body in the garbage.
