OF THE TWO
Try this one on for size: Put-
nam's Pipe, buried somewhere
within the Massachussetts wa-
ter district, consists of a huge
funnel of perfectly trowelled
cement bottlenecking into a
20' shaft of cold round dark-
ness. Fairly well known, but
rarely skated. Places like this
can swallow you whole, bones
and all. Just ask the kid who
slipped and fell into the huge
chasm a couple of years back
and lay wounded at the mouth
of the pipe for a night and
a day before being rescued.
Needless to say, there is a new
risk involved skating this
spot, the law.
