Front foot- nose foot
Back foot tail foot
Leading hand- nose hand
Trailing hand-tail hand
Frontside facing wall
Backside back to wall
Frontside air - Facing wall, trailing arm
grabs inside rail, pull off, 180 turn. Grab
around legs (tuck knee) or in between
(stink-bug).
Backside air Leading hand grabs
outside rail, pull off, 180 turn. Most com-
mon grab is between front foot heel and
nose of board. Variations: wheel grab,
truck grab, palm.
Bunny Hop- Frontside or backside, lead
hand grabs nose, trailing hand grabs tail,
launch. This is one of the first launching
maneuvers originally perfected on the
streets of Dogtown as a way up curbs and
over obstacles. Variations: 360, spin.
Ollie No hands grabbing, frontside,
backside or fakie either way. We're talking
purest of all air here, most radical no
matter which way you do it. Variations;
Caballarial 360 from takie; to tail tap; to
pogo rock 'n' roll.
Lein Frontside 180 air, leading hand
grabs outside rail between heel and nose.
Grab as you would a backside air. Vari-
ations; to tap, 360 spin to fakie landing.
Mute-Backside 180, leading hand grabs
inside rail around legs, in between feet.
Variations; Japan, 540 McTwist.
Indy-Backside 180, trailing hand grabs
inside rail in between legs. Variations; to
handplant.
Method Backside air while arching the
back and bringing legs above head, table
topping the bottom of your deck before
bringing it back in.
Bone - Frontside or backside air while
kicking the tail out over the lip and
straightening back leg, thereby brushing
back any snakes hovering too close to the
lip.
Slob Frontside 180, leading hand grabs
inside rail around leg, in between feet.
Great for checkin' out the babes on the
rollout deck.
Air to Fakie-Grab as if a backside air but
without a 180 turn, land in a fakie (back-
wards).

Terms
Body Jar - Backside 180 air to tail upon
re-entry.
Frigid Air Lein or backside air, front foot
off, kicking it out behind your body.
Judo Air - Lein or backside air, front foot
off, kicking it out in front of your body.
Sup Air-Frontside 180, grab like a slob air
while holding your tail at the same time.
with your trailing hand. This is a stylish one!
Palm Air Instead of grabbing the rail of
your board, your hand is placed flat against
the bottom during an aerial. Use your
loading hand for backside and your trailing
hand for frontside. Try this if you crave a
challenge.
Gay Twist-Approach the wall in a fakie
(backwards). Grab the board with your
leading hand as if you were doing a mute
air. Spin 360 degrees, land going forward.
Les Twist- Same as gay twist, but grab
with leading hand on outside rail.
Air Walk-Same as backside air, take both
feet off your board in mid- flight, then put,
them back into position upon landing. You
may find this easier if you grab the nose of
your board instead of the outside rail.
Good luck.
Finger Flip Aerial Backside 180, grab.
the nose and flip the board 360 degrees
with your leading hand in mid-fight.
Replace your feet and land. Oh boy, the
odds are against you on this one.
THE BOOSTER FAMILY
Booster airs are considered to be any
air where a skater uses a foot to boost his
height. Boneless Ones, Fastplants, Bean
Plants and Fakie Thrusters all fall into this
category.
Boneless Ones - This G.S.D. inspired
term indicates a frontside or backside air in
which the front foot leaves the board and
plants once on the lip, then back on the
board.
Fastplant-Either way you do this one it
denotes a quick step using the back foot on
the lip to thrust higher as you are leaving
the coping. The foot goes back on the tail
as you reach peak height.
Bean Plant Frontside, lein air with a fast
plant.
Fakie Thruster Go up the wall back-
wards, in a fakie, at the lip the back foot
comes off and boosts off of the lip while the
trailing hand grabs the tail. Go straight up
then replace foot on tail, let go with hand
and re-enter.
Stale-Any air that is ugly or not happening.
