HECTIC AND HUNGRY
Damn, it's been a busy month! First I had
to move into a new apartment, and second,
things have been getting rough at my job at
the oyster bar over in San Fran's Pacific
Heights. Those damn Democratic dele-
gates are getting out of hand. So if you're
like me, when you're this busy, you can't al-
ways eat like you should. Instead of three
square meals a day, you end up with a late
night skarf, then barf. Skaters like me aren't
fortunate enough to come home to hot ska-
ter mom meals. Here's a few more quick
mealle ideas:
vitamins through your veins is to gobble
down some cereal. Try to pick the natural
granola-crunchy-type. (Beware: it has
been known that people consuming this
stuff are subject to slander by the meelie-
brained, i.e., "You're a hippy if you eat that"
or "You're an Earth Person.") Top it with
some bananas or strawberries, or ask your
mom. Round off this perfect meal with
some juice or milk (or ruin it with a beer or a
FOOL FOR TOFU
Coke).
Every morning when I wake up I have the
Two B's on my mind: Bathroom and Break-in
fast. It's good to eat a good breakfast every
day. 1) It gives you protein and energy for
the entire day. 2) It fills your gut.
One thing I often consume in the mom-
ings, when I don't have time to prepare a
full-fledged breakfast, is a protein drink.
This drink is quick and easy to prepare. It
consists of a 6 to 8 ounce glass of milk
(more if you like, hell I don't care) and two
tablespoons of protein mix (which come in
about a 12 oz. can with brand names such
as Native-Aid, RichLife and my favorite,
Protesoy (which is made by Nutritional
Factors), just to name a few out of hun-
dreds of different brands found in any
health food store and most grocery stores.
Stir about 32 to 46 times-clockwise-and
drink. Spice it up if you want by just adding
a banana or yogurt and slap it in the blen-
der. For the hell of it, push the button that
says "Frappe" and see what happens. After
I drool this mixture down my starved gullet,
I'm set with energy for the whole damn day,
and I don't get hungry till about 3:00 in the
afternoon.

happens that it's Tofu. Yeah, you heard me.
Well, friends, I'm not into mold. It just so
TOFU! Tofu is fermented soybeans, a soy-
bean curd with a custard-like texture and a
bland flavor. The cool thing about this gunk
is that it's easy to prepare with dozens of
different ingredients, it's cheap, and is a kil
ler protein source, is low in fat, cholesterol,

and it's low in calories. Tofu absorbs sea-
soning and flavoring from the foods it's pre-
pared with. There are endless ways to pre-
pare tofu. It's found in a lot of soup recipes,
so you've probably already been suckered
on some. There are some tofu mixes that
are available. These are some of my faves:
the tofu scramble mix, and the burger mix. I
swear, when you add the scramble mix, it
looks just like scrambled eggs, and with the
burger mix, it looks just like a hamburger
when you fry it. The burger mix is killer, it's
and garlic. To prepare, just read the direc
loaded with all sorts of herbs, spices, flour
tions.
Tofu prices in at around a half of buck per
14 oz. tub, and one tub is enough to feed off
about four dudes (or dudettes).
One thing is for sure though, when you
breath, cause at first this tofu stuff smells
first open the tub, stand back and hold your

when you are a poor hungry skater.
