WALLO'S CONTEST
Sponsored by the University of Ten-
nessee Skateboard Club, Knoxville.
The ditch was ridden before parks and
ramps, and is now ripping more than
ever. The contest was judged by all
skaters and respected locals. The
d;ay was cool, the keg was cold, and
the skating was hot. Tim's Port-a-
ramp (earlier ripped at the Tenn. Am-
phitheatre Jam) added different lines
to a premier ditch. Many skaters and
many buds provided an atmosphere
for severe skating at the First Ever
Wallo's Bank Jam.
RESULTS:
1. Brian Beauchene 4. Jay Cabler
2. Tim Troutman
3. Doug Walker

KONSTANZ CHALLENGE CUP
Oct. 14, 1983
Konstanz, W. Germany
I just want to tell you how the Ger-
man skatescene is going these days.
Skaters from all over Germany
showed up on Friday October 14th to
struggle for the challenge cup of the
city of Konstanz. The able group of
skaters used all day Friday to practice
and get used to the pipe. Claus
Grabke, Uli "Cobi" Kiewchess, Martin
Van Doren and Thomas "Kellogs" Kel-
ler showed a lot of good and up-to-
date moves such as backside bone-
less and roto-rooters, Miller flips, etc.
etc.
In the evening it was talking skate
adventures and regarding photos. (It
was too cold to go streetskating.) The
next day the contest took off with the
rollerskaters first. This contest wasn't
too interesting as the best Germans
weren't present.
Next the elimination rounds of junior
and senior skateboarders. Needless
to say, the action was intense. A lot of
skaters had traveled up to 10 hours
and wanted to make the journey worth
it. We're talkin' grind, rip, slash, fly.
slide and slam. After the eliminations, Photos by Christian Eggers and Benard Zebeohull On the next day at 1 p.m. the finals
everyone headed for the accommo-
dations. We watched the Powell video
and a video of a contest in Switzer-
land, did haircut sessions and talked.
On Sunday morning day of the finals,
everyone got up early to be fit for the
battle.
Again everyone blazed, outstand
ing performances were shown by
Claus Grabke and Thomas Keller who
completed, for the first time, a back-
side boneless one in a routine. Claus
Grabke got first, Thomas second, and
Matthew Bauer third (seniors).
Ulrich Niewohner, Martin Van
Doren and Ralk Middendorf placed
one, two and three in the junior class.
The rollerskate contest was also won
by Claus Grabke. Everyone said
goodbye and headed home with yet
another great contest to remember.

TITUS CUP IV
Dec. 3-4, 1983
Mare-Linsen, W. Germany
On December 3, Titus Cup IV was
held at Mare-Linsen. The site was a
rollerskating rink. But the ramp was
outside and it was damn cold. We ar-
rived there at 10:30 p.m., but realized
at once that there was floodlight on
the ramp and a plastic roof over it. We
put on our pads and sessioned with
freezing noses, hands and feet. We
found the ramp small but rippable and
fast. There were about 30 skaters and
rollerskaters registered for the con-
test. On Saturday qualifying rounds
were held. Each competitor got two
45-second runs with the best one
counting
Only six skaters would advance to
the finals which were held like Joe's
Ramp Jam, so the battle was fierce in
each class. The sun was shining but
nevertheless it was cold, so few spec-
started with even colder weather,
more spectators and even radder
skating. In the juniors class, Martin
Van Doren pulled some clean airs,
handplants and combinations. Robbie
Suttner from the Netherlands also im-
pressed with some high indy airs. In
the seniors, it was again the ever-so-
radical Claus Grabke who came out
on top. Thomas Keller again got sec-
ond with a newly learned backside
boneless one. Only one hard slam
happened. Markus Mayer from Stuff-
gart bailed on a backside boneless
one and jammed his elbow into his
stomach; a break was arranged to let
Markus catch his breath again. He
went back into competition with even
more aggression.
I haven't got the full results yet, so
check the next Monster magazine. I
must say that these 60 minutes were
the hardest and best skating I ever
saw in Germany and I hope that the
Titus Cup finals in Hamburg will be as
exciting as this one.
