Man, I was skatin' the local mall two
weeks ago, where all the old ladies go
"early Christmas shoppin'," and one of the
yella-livered lillies told the mall security two
juvenile delinquents were snatching hub-
caps. Well, outa nowhere come five goons
totin' talkies.
All we were doing was snappin' long 50-
50's off the wheelchair ramp onto endless
fresh red paint.
So I told 'em, look, that's my car they
saw, the Nomad had no hubcaps and I told
'em my full moons were at home cuz they
weren't lockable yet. Anyhow, if we were
really ripoffs, we woulda vanished instantly
from the scene with the plunder.
They had nothin' on us with an empty
mad and all, so we were "allowed to leave."
They need to take care of the customers'
best interests, you know.
Gene Taylor, the mammoth blaster's
piano monster, was backstage at a gig held
at Uci's Crawford Hall. Doing a tailstand off
the top of a seven-foot tall row of locker
room baskets. No pictures as yet.
Exene's new '84 calendar may not have
a skater in it, but she's taken her com-
plimentary THRASHERass shirt on tour
through the U.S. till Christmas.
Lux, of the Cramps, wears a N20's shirt
in a Halloween ghoul video (black and
white, of course).
Mike Roach and Ron Emory of TSOL
have just received a new issue of skate
equipment. Time for them to get out there
and grind.
Now that Colton's gone, my friend Kurt
Schneider has begun preparations for an
indoor gestapo ramp. We've got to be
ready for those Russian winters, you know.
Reporting3
The Feds have Colton dozed?" Olson
reports that Sunday, Dec. 4, at 4:30 p.m.,
just before sundown, a lone dozer bashed
through the front fence on Cooley Drive
and peeled the banked freestyle area right
off that desert landscape. The boys left be-
fore anything else was touched. It's Tues-
day now and still haven't had a chance to
get out there. More on this to come.

Pine hosted a boss ditch day at Imperial
Road, San Diego. We went through a case
of copers that day; here's Pine's own ver-
sion of that action:
23
Blazing down 805 South in the cool
Nomad, J.R., Chuck, Scotty, Arturo, and
myself decide to get off on Imperial Ave. If
you live in San Diego, and are one of the
few skate rats, then you know where our
destination lies. Yeah, that's right, "Rail-
road Lip, or Imperial Ditch. Heading east
on Imperial, I tell the pilot to slow down,
cruise, turn up the ghetto blaster and look
cool, cause we want all the homies to know
that these dudes got a lot of class, and a lot
of style. About 15 minutes later, we finally
reach our destination, to find it empty.
The ditch is fun and easy to ride. It has
two sections: the top and bottom. The top is
really mellow. It's fun for carves, grinds, 50/
50's and slides. The lower section has
more transition, a lot of bottom and a better
lip. This is definitely the spot where the ter-
rorizing goes on.
We got lucky that it was empty because
some days it can be crowded. Neverthe-
less, it was one of those uncrowded days.
You don't have to worry about bad vibes
cause the people there are cool. And if
you're someone like Bill Ruff, people might
just kick back and watch you rip. It amazes
me though to find all these other guys rip-
ping. The time and effort they also put in to
get good. Every time I go there someone's
always learning a new trick, or already has
one.
I thought it was time to give a little recog-
nition to all the rats and rebels for keeping
skateboarding alive. Keep skating cause
your ripping and terrorizing is definitely
doing the sport good in San Diego.
