The Burton
PERFORMER
For all you snowboarders out there, here is the word on the 1984 Burton
Performer. For those of you who are still investigating winter's most outrageous
sport here is some useful information.
Burton Snowboards introduced the Performer last year on an experimental
basis. We designed the Performer primarily for competition riding in packed
snow. We discovered that the combination of a convex base, triple fins, and
competition bindings were as helpful to the beginner as they were to the expert.
The Performer turned out to be easier to ride in hard snow than any board we
had ever made.
After months of on-snow testing with last year's experimental Performer, we
improved even further on the Board, developing a slightly longer and wider
Performer with a centered stance. We came up with a Snowboard that dominated
the National Championships, was supreme in powder, and easier to ride in
hard snow than ever. After winning the World Championship Downhill (on
hardpack in Tahoe, CA.) Chris Karol chose to use the very same Board on a
powder safari the next day. That's Versatility.
We now manufacture this Board for all riders and we know it is the best snow-
board available for anyone from the ambitious beginner to the current World
Champion.
The Competition Performer is identical to the standard Performer but comes
with a P-tex base for added speed. The Competition Performer is also available
with steel edges on a special order basis.
The Burton Performer is pictured at left, price $150 ($195 with P Tex). Other
models include the Backyard $60 and the Backhill $110. All Burton Snowboards
are guaranteed against product related failure for one year.
