NECROS
Barry Jay Smith & Todd
Catering to the quickly growing De-
troit area scene where the rambuncti
ous kids are into singing chorus
chants, doing massive stage dives
and humongous pile ups...untamed
ferocity screams forth like a cyclone
battering upon the charging rhino at-
tack of the Necros. Currently one of
American's premiere mercury rising
hardcore exciters. Formed out of frus-
trating boredom, these mutal friends
through skateboarding, came to-
gether three years ago to start a band
that represented their attitudes, a plat-
form for ideas they had to say, their
creation of fun.
Exuberant and tight, the Necros de-
liver a obstreperous adventure assail-
ing Maumee, Ohio to the world.
Fronted by riveting vocalist Barry
Henssler, who writes the momentous
lyrics, which shear forth, outbursting
into unique rhapsodies, exerting
strength and tantalizing beliefs. Ac-
celerating drum persistency powered
by vivacious Todd Swalla, raises the
farenheit as Corey Rusk booms down
on the proficient bass lines incinerat-
ing the hairs on the spinal column. Re-
centyl reinstated guitarist Andy, re-
places the unhesistant fierce drive
Brian Pollock raged forward. Brian's
off to college now, but the distinct
clamorous, ebullient velocity that
Andy muscles, wails in unrestrained
glory, crunching down on the cranium!
Recently back from their enravish-
ing smash hit tour of the West and
points east on the well renowned "pro-
cess of elimination" tour, the Necros
are concentrating their efforts on their
upcoming LP release, Conquest For
Death, which should be out early this
year. The success of their raw pow-
ered Sex Drive EP, the tumultuous
Bad Dream cut on the 4Process of
Elimination EP and the massive ap-
proval of the turbulent nine song
Touch & Go/Dischord EP, has Necro
fans in spasmodic convulsions, anxi-
ously awaiting this sixteen song,
twelve inch slice of black unfettered
paroxysm!

The Necros' strong positive opin-
ions jolt away confused standards to
today's society. Each are anti-poison
straight edge in his own right for his
own reason, but not to preach to any
one else how to control their life. To-
tally disgusted by gossip and
backstabbing, if it doesn't concern
them, it's not their business...the
wrong form of acceptance by others.
"Dress the way you dress... uniforms
are for sheep. Lastly the Necros are
not a skate band, they skate, but they
deliver titantic combustion of Nitro
music also. "Put me into your mold/
categorize me because you're old.

So whether you hear the tempestu-
ous sound, see their exhilirating live
show or see them out terrorizing skate
terrain with biting vociferation of ag-
gressive emergence, The Necros tor-
rently put their positive energy into a
true source and have a thrilling
amount of fun.

TRUE SOUNDS OF LIBERTY
BENEATH THE SHADOWS
Ron Emory-guitar
Jack DeLauge-vocals
Todd Scrivner-drums
Greg Kuehn-keyboards
Mike Roche-bass
Here's the newest from one of
THRASHER Mags favorite bands,
TSOL. From the band who never was
very predictable, here are their ten
new sophisticated, ripper cuts from
the album Beneath the Shadows.
Starting off the second side of this
disc is an instrumental, Glass Streets
It's very well orchestrated with the
new addition of the keyboards, which
are piloted by the talented Greg
Kuehn. From Glass Streets to the
rest of album, Greg's keyboard work
enhances the new TSOL to the level
of "style classique."
I Walk Alone, Washaway and Wait-
ing for You are three of the hottest and
catchiest songs ever. These tracks
are destined to take these boys all the
way to international massive recogni
tion. / Walk Alone states; Live in a
world/Live in a world of my own crea-
tion/l walk alone. "You'll find yourself
humming along to that, Washaway
and Waiting for You. They're just the
type of song that grows onto you.
Soft Focus, the first song on the A
side, is another one of the many
beautiful songs on this release. It runs
its course effortlessly, introducing and
excusing itself with the light fingered
plinking of the piano. Forever Old, the
next cut, is a bouncing, swaying song
that you might associate with a stroll
on a bright day although lyrically, it's
somewhat the contrary. Nevertheless,
a masterpiece. Next, a good rock-n-
rollness in She'll Be Saying: "Who
knows why I'm staying here with
you?/Who knows why?/Thought I was
never never gonna stop." A lot said in
this one. Reality stays while some fan-
tasies fade when faced with truth in
musicianship and heartstone emo-
tion.
Beneath The Shadows and Send-
ing My Thoughts, intricate and melodi-
ous the piano and keyboards begin
the structure of this song, as you im-
agine a vivacious 6'4" blonde, in a
black silk negligee, stride across the
room. Then, with searing crescendo,
the guitars, the bass, the drums
explode into another, soon to be fam-
ous song. I walk down/a lonely street/
as the teardrop/falls down my face.
Jack DeLauge (changed again from
Ladoga) sings this with the elegant
emotion of a new age Sinatra. You
could probably bet he cried these
songs. Sending My Thoughts rounds
TSOL
off this winner of an album. I caught a
train running to nowhere/l caught a
train to take me out of your life/f send
all my thoughts to you.
Faulty Products/Alternative Tenta-
cles have themselves a time bomb
waiting to go off. The fuse is short and
as soon as this album saturates the
world, it won't be long before you see
TSOL scribbled on every kid's school
notebook.

what NYC hardcore is all
about. With bands like Beastie Boys,
Bad Brains, The Undead (N.Y.'s not

O.D., Even Worse, Heart Attack, The
Fiends, False Prophets, and The

All these bands have at least one
song on the tape. The cuts chosen are
good samples of what these bands
can hurl at you. If you have any taste
for hardcore, you'll want this tape.
The liner notes run by a pretty fair
preface to the tape you're about to
pop into your deck. It has an extended-
introduction which somewhat explains
the hardcore scene on the East Coast.
Also included in these notes are the
band names, when and where they
were recorded, and even a short
synopsis on the bands.
This tape is must for skaters to
slam to and thrashers to swivel to.
