WE'RE TALKIN' KANSAS CITY
Of course the Midwest is alive! Yeah,
I've seen a lot of letters from Illinois,
Wisconsin, Oklahoma, etc. But now, it's
time for the world to hear what's happening
at the heart of the Midwest. We're talkin'
Kansas City where skaters from all over
Missouri and Kansas come to skate the
Metro ramp. It's your basic 16' wide but not
so basic, real coping, canyon jump roll-in
and perhaps the coolest thing about it is its
setting, which is similar to the one in
Georgia-right in the middle of a forest
where we can crank out the thrashtoons.
Our music and skating is as hardcore as
you can get, your Rough Trade ad says it
all for music. Our sessions get so big it's
unreal, the spectators outweigh the
skaters by two to one usually, but that's
cool 'cuz we usually have around 30
bodies around the ramp.
I personally have been going through
unreal tactics of locating any other existing
skaters that might be in the area who don't
know of our existence since the death of
Rolling Magic. It closed while I was still
living in St. Louis (hey, the energy's hot
there too, with a halfpipe demos being put
on by Danny Gibson and Glenn Stalling at
6 Flags). The K.C. boys will soon be
making a trip to the Turf to find out what all
this commotion about Wisconsin is over.
Speaking of Wisconsin, a good friend of
mine who goes to college there should be
sending you some hot pics of the METRO
soon.

Raleigh is really getting back into skating
since your mag came out. Me and my
buddies skate every day at any place we
can find. I'm tired of hearing all these
wimps write in about they can't find any
place to skate, they at least can get into
freestyle, right? Some guys I met a few
weeks ago have a halfpipe that is perfect.
We also skate an old closed skatepark that
has no vert, but we still rip it. Yet we search
for spots every day. I am enclosing my full
address so anybody in North Carolina can
write or call me if they know any hot spots.
Keep up the good work and "THRASH
FOREVER."

Hi, I thought I might say a few words to
all you people in the U.S. about the skating
situation in Australia.
There isn't all that many good places to
skate in Sydney since they ripped up our
major skatepark in Manly, so we are
mainly stuck to the streets or a couple of
kinky halfpipes and small bowls out in
various suburbs.
Skating is still popular over here but it's
not as radical as it used to be since a lot of
the hot group don't skate too much. We
really count on your mag for new ideas, so
keep up the good work and remember,
Skaters Rule.
