MOVE OVER
HE BAKER OFFICE IS NOW UP AND RUNNING IN HOLLYWOOD.
Angie Reynolds, the older sister of Andrew, is monitoring activities. Several
blowout. Greco and Strickland also have keys and the trio meets regularly at Rosco's
House of Chicken and Waffles for conferences. Things are so out of hand that when
Andrew had a flat tire on his 2000 Cadillac he had to call his sister to come and fix it.
Owner of multiple pairs of white pants, Jason
Dill is rumored to have quit Vita for a shoe

Much to Riffs disgust, upstart Richie Belton
has left DNA for a spot on Markovich's mysteri-
ous new Tum Yeto gig. Young Rich has also
signed up with Ricta wheels, Destroyer trucks and
Killing Machine hardware. In other Markovich

Marcus Bandy is receiving a signature axe on

In the dreams-really-do-come-true department,
Ricky "the Dude" Bedenbaugh is now the
proud owner of a silver Audi A4. Possesion of
such a luxury machine has done little to effect his
relationship with Lady Luck, who recently dealt
him a broken finger.

Joe Pino is back in SD and with him is the com-

In an episode of karmic jus-
tice, skater/wrassler Mike

course. Though V claims justice for
a drunken, spoken-word critique from
the close-talking Aussie, such random
violence (the worst since Mike's Radlands

foes on high alert. Watch your ass, you could

HALL OF MEAT
Four plates, nine screws and 36 staples equals
serious hardware for Colorado's Tim Jaques.
Steve Olson, last seen onstage playing guitar
at the Independent Truck anniversary party, has
scored another one of his unlikely musical
accomplishments. The one-time member of The
Jones', former world professional skateboard
champion, past internet king Mr. Lucky and brief
member of Beatle Ringo Starr's TV Super Bowl
band is headed towards more mass exposure.
This time Steve is appearing in an Apple com-
puter television commercial called "Rip Mix
Burn." Bulky stars along with such entertainers as
Lil' Kim, Ziggy Marley, De La Soul, Iggy Pop,
Chuck Berry, Exene Cervanka, Barry White,
George Clinton, Smash Mouth and Dwight
Yokum. The biggest revelation here is that Brad
Bowman did the make up for the gig.
Gadget and Tommy Guerrero produced Hoy
yen Ass'n for the Function 8 label. Natas Kaupas
serves as the label's art director.
No doubt inspired by the Steve Caballero, Bob
Burnquist, Bucky Lasek and Tony Hawk
action figures, the Beastie Boys are now issuing
their own set. Some of the sales proceeds of these
politically but not anatomically correct petro-
leum-based figures will benefit the Tibetan relief
movement. In Japan where models of Cab were
the hottest collectable. The Beastie set is now
going for $1000.

the more provocative included: Burnside by
Corey Wade, Indonesia by Rick Charnoski,

Nardelli and Love the Nude Bowl by Randy
Janson. The Skateboarding Saved My Life trailer
by Rob Rundquist incorporated narration by
Mike Vallely. Encinitas Revelation by Chris
Johanson starred Tobin Yelland. The trailer for
Helen Stickler's Stoked (the Rise and Fall of
Gator) also made its world debut. This effort dealt
with the Gator Mark Anthony Rogowski mur-
der case. In Stickler's words, "He was a pro skater
from the '80s who raped and murdered a girl and
put her in a surfboard bag and buried her in the
desert. I wanted to know why..."

Flagrant disregard for reality continues in a new
round of skate exploitative offerings including
efforts by Stouffer's pizza, Nesquick, and Pacific

The Million Dollar Hotel. U2's Bono and
Eurotrash director Wim Wenders thought up
this flaccid, whimsical tragedy. Starring Jeremy
Davies as Tom Tom the skating lackey narrator
of the story-this torrid tale goes nowhere fast.
Perhaps this is why Tom Tom jumps off the top
of the building in the movie's first scene. Being
dead is the best way to get through something as
tragic as this. Also in the cast are premiere top
shelf actors Mel Gibson, Jimmy Smits and
Amanda Plummer, proving that millions were
spent to get it all wrong.
RIP. Skater Johnathan Smith of Hope,
Arkansas was run down by a truck. No charges
were filed against the driver. Smith was briefly
mentioned in the Texarcana Gazette's local news
section. Another example of "skater's rights."
The Seattle Times devoted substantially more
ink to 17-year-old Jerell A. Thomas' alleged
attacking of Mardi Gras celebrants with a skate-
board. King County Prosecuting Attorney Norm
Maleng spoke of "innocent party goers being
robbed, beaten and stomped by roving groups of
thugs." Thomas is looking at 12-to-20 years in
prison if convicted.

REAL
EAL
Morftechs was giddy.
Long awaited and highly anticipated, Real Skateboards finally
showcased their first video effort in three years last Friday at
Slim's in SF. Judging by the impressive roster of attendees from
all over the map, this video had the buzz of something big.
Crews from the East Coast (Fred Gall, Stevie etc.), LA (Carroll, Lee
Smith, Meza and company), and the local SF posse (Wu Welsh,
Brad Johnson, THINK boys, Strubing and more) were well repre-
sented, and the line of kids and police went down and around
the block. The lucky ones that made it in before 8 o'clock got to
see the vid, as well as the chance to walk away with product or
get a pie in the face from Mic-E.
This joint starts out with Real's newest pro, the stylish Nate
Jones. From Dread to homie to Zeppelin; Nate's thing is defi-
nitely style. Backside flips, tre flips, and the memorable back tail
commercial with the Gonz stunt double. For any of the doubters,
Matt Field came through with a surprisingly good part; loud,
roughneck Rasta beats and way more than just the nollie. Fast
and stylish vert skills from Max, quick combos from Huf, and
Cairo starting off at Union, then proceeding to check off all the
well-documented ads and photos we've seen throughout the last
year. Switch flip the New Spot rock gap, Clipper ledge nollie nose,
heelflip California Street and of course the back lip down the
white ledge from the poster. SHOOT TO THRILL, this was it! Take
the high energy of AC/DC and the blazing fast skating of Dennis
Busenitz and you get one of the best parts of the video. This
guys skates fast. He gives you a full arsenal of ledge tricks,
including the b/s tail and b/s Smith through the corner at the
New Spot, but his ledge 50-50 to gap ollie tailslide took the cake.
Mark Gonzales was the start and end of this video, and rightfully
so. Mark's skating is so sick. Everything he does makes skating
look fun. He ended up with probably the most footage out of
anyone, so all you Gonz fans get geared up for his biggest part
since Video Days. Congratulations to Dan Wolfe and Gabe
Morford. This video rocked.
