            VOLCOM
...ALL YE FAITHFUL
Photos and words Burnett
T'S BEEN SAID THAT VOLCOM IS MORE POPULAR
than even the Limp Bizkit down in Orange County. The
bros plaster the stickers across the backs of their silver
SUVs like the snarling club of bad boys from yesteryear,
while the babes (some as young as 18!) get the popular
stone logo as their above-the-ass-crack tattoo of choice.
And while such popular (and financial) success has been
known to turn many skateboarding idealists into Jaguar-
driving, yacht-purchasing, funny sunglass-wearing jack-
asses, the Volcom boys seem to be keeping things down to
Earth by sinking their cash into terrain for team (one of the
more eclectic out there, truth be told) and close personal
homies alike. And though it doesn't seem especially polite
to raise a big hoo-hah about a private skatepark that the
majority of you out there will never be able to skate in
your life, it's still reassuring to know that, in these, the
gravy days, there are still some big-money types out there
who appreciate a good session with the boys, loud rock
'n' roll music, and a well-constructed quarterpipe. ◆
